      Eyes closing and numbness.

Two nights ago, I got a numbness in my hands, and couldn't work out which way I had placed them. I was kind of seeing a person, but it was not visualizing, it was in my mind - if you understand what I mean.
I slowly came out of this little 'trancey' state, rearranged myself and tried again-failure. So I rolled over and went to sleep.

Last night, I decided to sit a little more upright (to keep my eyes closed which I will talk about further down), and my whole body went numb, including my face. I got a little excited and my heart starting racing. I was pretty unsuccesful and calming myself down and soon returned to my normal state.
      I tired again, but failed.

Now, I have a problem with my eyes. My room is pitch black, and often I will notice my eyes have opened after a short while, without noticing them opening. I just suddenly go "Hey, my eyes are slightly open.", and will shut them, only to find them open again shortly.
This hasn't affected my ability to induce this 'numbness'. But will it affact me later on?
I have been suggested sleepmasks, my problem is getting one, but I'm sure I could find one lying around the house.

I was also told that this numbness was the start of a 'HI'. And I remember seeing that disscussed but cannot find the thread again.

I have never really 'visualized' anything, it is all 'in my mind'. As if you think about it when your eyes are open. I hope that makes sense.

      Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well, the numbness would be more akin to sleep paralysis. HI is merely the images you see when falling asleep, and may what the face you saw was. Those two signs usually can lead a person into a [url=http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=139164#139164WILD[/url] (wake induced lucid dream). I would recommend looking more into it and seeing if that sounds like what you've been experiencing.

I was also going to recommend a sleep mask, but you've already mentioned it. You can pick up one for very cheap at Wal-Mart or Target or another larger store.

I hope this was helpful in some way.

Hehe, sorry Amethyst Star, but I don't think we have Wal-Marts in NZ!

I will only buy from the wuddy fuddy if no one calls me cheap, plus, I would feel embarrassed buying a sleeping mask from them. : (

Thank's Ame, that topic helped alot. Though it seems I am skipping the first stage of WILD'ing!
Seeker, also states that opening eyes is not really a problem, it can just be a distraction.
