Dreaming your having a lucid dream.

A few times I have what feels like a lucid dream at the time, and maybe even woke up for a few minutes and still felt I had a lucid dream. However, when I awoke completely it seemed that I might have actually dreamt I was having a lucid dream. Is this normal, and would you think it is a recall issue?

      Thanks for any input

What you had is called a false awakening: 1st you have a Lucid Dream. Then you "think" you wake up and remember the LD. Then, you really wake up and remember both the LD and the false awakening. Kind of cool, huh!

False awakenings are fairly common; it's not a problem with recall. And false awakenings have been known to happen more than once in a single dream cycle.

Thanks for the input Dust Mote. That is cool, I feel completely awake when it happens. Of course not enough to get out of bed, but I really do think I am awake. Next time I will try a reality check. Ever since the first time I had a LD several years ago, I have been afraid to try to exert too much concentration because it always seems to wake me up. Hopefully, with practice I will be able to control without the fear of waking myself up.

Hi there. I think I experience the same as you do.

I started trying WILD not more than 2 weeks ago. Four times I had a dream about trying to fall asleep performing WILD, three times without success, and this morning finally with the first LD, although only for short time (like 10 seconds of awareness .. telling myself I should try some reality check, perhaps dunking with a basketball and I really managed to jump quite high, so that moment I knew

Anyway, every time I woke up with the original dream going on and after a while I woke up again to reality.

It seems to me, that my path to a LD is very tricky a complicated everytime. I hope I can find some way how to put order to the mess and recognize more quickly, that there is no need to dream inside a dream to have a lucid dream
