      focusing before sleep

what is the best way to focus before going to sleep to try to get a lucid dream? every time i tell my self over and over, it dosen't work, and every time i barely do anything before i go to bed nothing happens either. Is there a good way to prepare mentally before going to bed?
because during the whole day i do Rc's non stop.

It sounds like you are doing good with the Rc's, but each and every person has their own way to induct lucid dreams at night. Check out the Tutorials section for some good methods Personally I'm working on perfecting WILDS at night but the technique I used to do that worked almost 100% of the time is to go to bed with thought in your head that lucid dreaming is easy and is going to happen on that particular night. You have to really believe that its easy and IS going to happen. This should help you out, PM me with any questions you have
God, grant me the courage the change the things I can, the serenity to accept the things I can't, and the wisdom to know the difference...

I find a good way to focus on having a lucid dream before bed is to lie down before going to sleep and to plan out just what I'm going to do in the lucid dream that I will have, it tends to be that if you believe you have one, you will.

You could try a Lucid dream induction MP3/CD. You can get them free on the web.

This one I found quite freaky, but the first time I tried it I had a night of sleep paralysis , and ALMOST managed a Lucid dream Double edged sword

Apparently they are most effective after 4-6 hours sleep, but it worked well after a long day.

focus ? A good way to "concentrate" for lucid dreaming is being observer .
And better all day long, mayby even a litllebit "critical" observer, critical of course in the sense that you wont plunge into action around you and forget that you are observer

I find that I have the most vivid dreams when I go to sleep an hour or so earlier than usual. I wake up around two hours later feeling refreshed and then through out the night I have several intense dreams.

The same sort of thing happens if I go to sleep as soon as I get in from work.

It normally works, but It has only helped with a lucid once.

It's great that you're doing RCs during the day. I'd like to ask, though, how much thought you put into these checks? Do you find yourself doing them quickly and once they fail you simply move on? If not, great! However, if it's otherwise, I'd suggest really taking time to question what's around you. Do the things around you really seem logical? Even just state purposefully, "I am not dreaming," or if you're in a dream you can tell yourself, "I am dreaming."

Reality checks kind of build upon themselves. The way to get lucid is to be aware of the world around you and decide if what you're doing would actually happen in real life. So, before you go to bed, I'd take a good look around your room and make a mental inventory of what's there and ask yourself if this it's all logically as it should be. And just have confidence that you will realize when you're dreaming.
