      Reality Check Question

      Hi!

      To date, I have had about 3 lucid dreams. In 2 of them however, I've had a problem.

      In one dream, I had a false awakening. However, I suspected I was dreaming (it was unusually bright, almost ridiculously bright). I tried the hand into hand RC and it failed. I tried again, this time without looking at my hands. It didn't work. Unfortunately, I let my dream get the best of me, and I was fooled. Something like this happened last night.

      My question is, is this normal for newbies? I have only been doing this for about a month. Should I try other reality checks? Any ideas?

      Any help would be appreciated.

      [size=18]Hello & welcome RamboCaliente!

      This is not just an issue for newbies. Sometimes your subconscious is just not willing to give up control easily. Sometimes you have to come up with a more unique method for an RC.

      Thanks!

      I was thinking of one where I balance on one leg and try to see if I stay balanced, but I'm not sure if that would work. Any other RC's that might be beneficial for me?

      The one where you look at something twice and see if it changes works for me even though the hand one doesnt work for me etiher, because in dreams stuff changes often when you look at it twice, so i just look at my digitail wacth twice.

      My favorite RC is to pinch my nose and then try to breathe through it. It hasn't failed me yet.

      When you do that RC, how does it feel? Is it difficult at all to breathe, or is it as if your breathing normally?

      It pretty much feels like you are breathing normally. That's why it's a dead giveaway. The theory behind why it works (at least the way I understand it) is because nothing is impeding the breathing in your real-life body.

      That is what I figured. I understand the theory behind it at least. I just wondered how much the mind gets in the way. If the mind would try to make you think you shouldn't be able to breathe or what not.

      Thanks for the reply.
