      Hi I'm Artie

I'm new here and am very interested in learning how to LD. I've had a few experiences before by accident and was very pleased with them. Tonights my first night with the Dream Journal so wish me luck.

I'm a 23 year old male from Maine in the US. Its a quiet little state no one knows about. I like it here its cold and very rural. Thats about it. I do carpentry and am a student part time. Any pointers that any one can give me are more than welcome. Thanks.

Keeping dream journal really good helps dream recall, dream recall with u okay? And for lucid dreams you might wanna try reailty checks (http://dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4935) there easy and simple and do really take much effort but it helps for lucid dreaming and Welcome to Dreamviews

Hello artie and welcome to Dreamviews.

Since you're a beginner and asked here are some tips on what people ask about commonlly:

For Dream Recall - the second you wake up if you remember your dream write it down in a dream journal because later in the day you're memory of the dream will fragment or you will forget entirely.

When WILDing - when you read about WILDing they will explain that at a certain part you are to view Hypnotic Imagery (H.I. - the lights and pattern in you'r field of vision when you'r eyes are closed). I've seen around the forum a few times and my friends have asked me "Why don't I see the HI?" or "When I see the HI why does it disappear entirely?" The answer to the first one is pretty much that you have to have enough rest, you have to be relaxed, and you cannot let you'r mind drift away to other thoughts. To the second question, if you try to view and focus on it chances are they wil disappate, you have to try to view passively, just pretend you are staring out to sea at a sunset, you are relaxed watching the waves go by trying to let go of reality for a short amount of time, pretty much the same way to view HI.

For Dream Control - just like how you need strength in real life you need strength in dreams to control them and maintain lucidiy. But this is not physical strength this is strength of mind. You have to have the will power to keep you'r cool when realizing it is a dream and you must have focus. Do not become frustrated in a dream or you may wake up. To develop strength of mind I would recommend meditation. Just be in a place where no one will disturb you for a while, sit and relax you'r whole body just like if you were trying to induce a lucid dream, but in this case keep a blank mind focus only on your breathing, then when you are in the relaxed state pratice forming objects and sounds in you'r head. I find also that in meditation that you can simulate feeling on you'r body like producing heat or cold on a body part. This wil develop strength of mind with can be used in dreaming.

I hope these tips are useful. Good luck and Godspeed on attaining lucidity.
