      "Lucid Dreaming"

I didn't read most of the site yet, but I am just wondering if I am sure what lucid dreaming is.

When I was younger, I watched lots of R rated horror movies, and I often had scary dreams. I always feared that I would have another dream because they scared me. Then somehow I learned that I could sort of take control of my dream. There is one dream that I especially remember. I was walking around in my neighborhood and there was a big truck and there was a vampire in a strange astronaut looking suit. Because I learned that I can control my dreams, I always bit my thumb to see if it hurt so I knew it was a dream. So in that dream, I bit my thumb as always, and I didn't feel anything. So I purposely walked up to the vampire so he could bite me so I would wake up. It worked, and I woke up, or at least ended the dream. So is that lucid dreaming or not?

Yeah i guess it's a lucid dream cause you can control it, but you should beat up the monsters instead of getting killed

      Welcome to the Forum!

Being lucid means being aware. So its basically 'Awareness of the dreaming state'

      Congrats!

I can think of better ways to have spent that dream , but it was lucid because you knew you were dreaming and you made a concious decision to walk up to him.

      Welcome.

Hmm.. I'm still not sure if I'll purposely try to get a lucid dream sometime soon yet.

That of course unless you really enjoy getting hickies...

Anyway, Welcome to the forums and I would recommend that you finish reading the website and perhaps the tutorials as well. They really helped me.

Try to be lucid in your dreams, I am pretty sure you will thoroughly enjoy it, and if you don't then you can just go back to normal dreams...
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...
