Is any new research into dreaming being done?

When I come to visit this site or LD4All, there are typically two kinds of people. New people who are posting stuff like "Woah, I had my first LD," and then the old people who reply like "Yeah, it's great. Welcome to the forum." I don't see a whole lot in the area of testing out new methods and trying to better our knowledge. Most of it is just people using what we already have and never taking it a step further.

I personally believe there are ways in which we could improve all aspects of our dreaming that are still yet to be discovered. What we should try to do is conduct forum-wide tests to see if different things work better for inducing LDs or just dreams in general. For example, we get about 20-30 people who would be willing to try something out every night for a week and then come back and report their results.

I'm convinced that anything and everything could affect how you sleep. We need to try to determine which things would be better for helping us dream instead of just relying on the information that is already there.

      "And through it all
How could you cry for me?
Cause I don't feel bad about it.
      So shut your eyes,
      Kiss me goodbye,
      And sleep.
      Just sleep.

That might be experiment easyier to do cause that whould be like more asking questions about what you do in real life instead of trying to do something in dream right?

Exactly. I mean stuff like: how many hours of sleep you get, listening to music while sleeping, eating certain foods before sleeping, what side of your bed you sleep on, what side of your body you lay on, how much light you let into your room, reading before you sleep...anything. I'm sure almost anything can play a role in our dreaming, if we could figure out little things that help, we could add them all together to make one awesome dreaming experience.

Hi DG88, I think your goal is a good one, but I'm not sure these forums lead to structured testing.

However there is a ton of information in different threads about things that people here ARE experimenting with - chocolate, dairy, eggs, vitamins etc, WILD, MILD, HILD, VILD, etc.

I think a lot of us are trying to refine the techniques that work for us occassionally, and when we find something that works for a while it gets shared. However, what works for some people doesn't work for everyone.

Take some time to read a few hundred threads. Then share with us things that you learn. There's lots of us here who try out things if posters we respect report it helps.
