      Brand spanking newbie

Whats up everybody! I am brand new to this entire idea/concept of LD'ing i accidently found this site as i was trying to find information for a research paper i have to do for biology(which i chose to do about dreams). After finding this sight and reading about it only for a few mins i was giddy about the idea that it is possible to control dreams, i had always talked about this with my freinds and how cool it would be if you could do so placing ur self in a matrix like environment. So i guess my first question is how many of the people on here learned this skill from scratch? Ive notice a lot of people mentioning how they had already had these LD experiences before coming to this site or before tyring to master them. I have never had this experience atleast not that i remember, i remember my dreams fairly well when i try to( if i give any thought to what i was dreaming about) and i have already started a DJ (only one night so far i just barely found this sight yesterday) and recorded some of my dreams from last night. So i am curious as to how hard it was for people starting from scratch to learn this and about how long it took them, so i have an idea what i am in for so that way if i don't get it right away i won't be discouraged. Thanks for any your answers or any general adivce to a newbie!

      Hello there, Delinquent!
My answer was that it happened naturally, but some people might be a bit different there. I answered that to you in a PM earlier.
Oh, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask! (and just so you know, the DGs want to help you out as much as I do!)

Welcome to the forum, Delinquent. I am glad you found your way into our community. As you know, Dream Views offers a whole lot of cool dreaming related information and research. Anyway, to answer your question, I had my first accidentally while I was reading a book that talked about LDs. After that, making myself was rather hard, and in some cases, still is. If I were you, though, I wouldn't be worried about that. If you like dreams, it's a labor of love. Your hard work will pay off. Have a look at our tutorials and adoption program . They might help you along in your quest for lucidity.
      Shine on, you crazy diamond!

It really depends on the skill of the Dreamer.
I have them every night, but some can have them more than 1x a night, whereas, some have them once or twice a week/month, and some haven't even had any yet!

      Welcome to the forum!

The frequency of LDs varies from person to person. Sometimes I'll go quite awhile with nothing, then suddenly I'll have several in one week. I think it also depends on my state of mind and how much effort I actually put into it, too.

Don't worry about starting from scratch - a lot of members have joined this forum without ever having an LD before. I'm glad to hear you've already started a DJ - that's a HUGE step in the right direction.

Give the tutorials a good read-through, and I'd also recommend buying Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge to read before bed. After you've tried some techniques, if you have any ocncerns or questions, please feel free to PM any Dream Guide for guidance.

      Good luck and have fun!
