      Do you go to sleep...

Do you go to sleep concious or unconcious when you try to have a LD?

I've only LDed once and that one time I went to sleep concious.. does it work better when you just go to sleep unconcious?

I definitely went to sleep conscious last night, plunged straight into a dream, and then couldn't go lucid. Clue was being back in america and using my debit card, and i knew i'd come home!!
Grr...must start doing those reality checks again, and writing my dreams down again...
Can't remember the last time i wrote one down!

Usually, unless I am set on doing a WILD, I just drift away until I enter a dream.

I don't know how to answer. I am often conscious for a brief moment while my mind begins to go into "autopilot mode" (very similar to dreaming, except everything is still only happening in my mind) and I lose awareness. I eventually lose consciousness until the next time I wake up after a dream. I only remember what was going on in "autopilot mode" if I happen to cycle back to full awareness instead of going to sleep. Even then, my memory of what I was thinking about is usually very fuzzy.

My LDs so far have been DILDs. I try to do WILDs, but I can't sem to get the right balance of conciousnes, as I either go straight to sleep, or can't get to sleep Just more practice I guess

Unconcious i guess, I tend to focus on dream recall before I sleep, but I just drift off until I by chance DILD.

It depends, if I'm trying or not

If I want to, and really try I can go to sleep conciously. But yeah, that's what I and many others would consider WILD. So I suggest looking into them in you're interested in going to sleep conciously

However, it's fairly hard to this right off when you first go to bed. It usually works better after you had some sleep already. Unless you're really tired (for me anyway) but then you usually just crash out

Most of the times I got to bed I don't go to sleep conciously though, but I do it quite often when I go to sleep again after waking up in the middle of the night
