What should a beginner start doing?

      Hi

I have started using dream RC and the dream journals, and i was just wondering,

On my first controlled LD would i be capable of doing any thing "intense" like flying or changing my image, or would i have to practise more and more to do these abilities by doing smaller things?

Welcome to the forum. I really think that as a begginer that you should start small. You may be able to do something really intense like flying, but your first LDs will be the ones that you will be excited and dissarrayed in. Just work your way up. Try to get total lucidity first, so that you have that part down. Then see what you can do.

Hi! Welcome on board! Being able to go great things in a lucid dream is more a function of your belief in your abilities. It's kind of like the matrix, awesome things are possible, you only have to realize that it is your dream and that you can do anything.

Start small as Gwen suggested, it will help you build your confidence. Good luck!

On your first big Lucid Dream, just try to take in the impression. Build on your ability to focus.

Most people will let lucidity slip away.

So if all you can manage is to stand there with your thumb up your butt and hold onto Lucidity until the end of the dream, then you have done more than most people manage to do, who even pretend to be experienced with Lucid Dreaming.

I agree with Leo, it never lasts when someone tries to do something "intense" on their first lucid dream.

It would be indeed helpful in the long run if you work on the clarity and focus in the beginning. I have found that sometimes a less hurried, more detailed and prolonged lucid dream, especially in the beginning, can easily be as or more fulfilling than a blurry action packed one.

      Dream big.

When I realized I was dreaming for the first time I thought big. I thought to myself one, two, three...Jump! Next thing I knew I was soaring through the air above the trees and buildings.

When you realize you are dreaming you can do whatever you want. Just keep the excitement down and just put that grin on your face; the grin in which you know you've accomplished something spectacular.

Be aware of the dreaded false awakening. My first, and only, lucid dream was ended by one and too bad i didn't start writing it down in my dream journal. I may have caught my false awakening.

      Good luck.

It's easy enough to say "keep the excitement down" but a lot harder in practice, especially for a first Lucid Dream.

But yeah, keep an eye out for those False awakenings, they can be pretty frustrating.
