      Hey, I'm new...

Hello everyone, I just joined, thought I would announce my arrival as I usually do... by saying who I am, why I came here, and why I decided to actually join, rather than trawl the forums!

I am a 15 year old guy from sunny (not) old England, I came here because I was having trouble getting to sleep so I got up, went on the PC, and looked around for something relating to dreams and sleep, and I joined because I thought maybe I could get some help with a couple of things!

So I've said my piece for now... look forward to chatting to y'all!

Edit: I forgot to say... I need a little help with dream journals... I find it impossible to coherently think during the period of time in which I can remember my dreams, I have trouble trying to focus elsewhere from my memories... and by the time I am capable of writing, mostof the memories have died, or I have no sense of continuity in the dream, so I remember mixed up flashes. Any help with that would be great!
I have actually found myself at the end of a game level -after- I have fallen asleep while playing.

You could try staying perfectly still in bed, and thinking for a bit after waking up, or at the time that you know you are dreaming, you could try using an Alarm clock to wake you up during the time, and thus your recall should be very sharp!

      Re: Hey, I'm new...

Welcome, Sleepy Gamer. We're glad you joined us here at DV and again, feel free to let us know if you haveany questions.

As for dream journals, the most important thing is to be consistent and persistent with them. Even if you're having trouble at first, just keep at it and always keep in mind what you intend to accomplish. Even if you're just able to write down a jumbled mess, write it down nonetheless. Write down everything you remember. Your recall will improve with time and you'll be more apt to become lucid. Just keep at it.

      Good luck!

Well that would be great except for one or two things. During the week, I have school (-.-) I have trouble getting up on time as it is, so an alarm halfway through my dream will totally mess me up. And secondly, my alrm consists of my phone, which is barely enough to wake me up even with my mum shouting at me. I could use my good alarm clock but it earns half an hour over night and overheats. :/ I hate being picky but it's true. On a weekend I could maybe use an alrm (as I go to my dad's house on a weekend and most, is not all, of my recalled dreams and LDs have occurred while I was sleeping there.

And thank you for the warm welcomes!

The weekend is probably the best time anyways..so you could try it as many times as you wanted, and sleep away the weekend (especially Sunday)
Don't you have the summer off, though? Or do you take summer classes?

Ever try sleeping in a bright(ish) bedroom with someone doing the vacuuming outside the door, someone playing music, and someone else (being a cat) tearing your belly apart?

      Not easy I tells ya!

I -could- do my trick and not go to sleep for thee days, then falls asleep on the weekend and have awesomely long dreams!
