Just starting out in trying Lucid Dreaming..

I read about this last week or so (LD), and thought it would be too hard for me. Then I found this site and thought I would give it a go. So I just started this like 3 days ago. I think I have definitely made progress in my dream recall by writing my dreams down and trying to think of them when waking up.

I already remembered 3 dreams tonight. Although I failed in WILD. I felt the paralysis and thought okay this is going well to even get this far... I concentrated on my breathing. I also couldn't really rememeber what to do after that point. I had read too much to rememeber well and if i tried to think about it too much I just started losing it. Like 3 different times I felt as if I was flying/floating out of me, and after that I started seeing streaks of black/white color and felt as if i was flowing through myself. Then it actually came more colorized but was still hazy. I wasn't sure what would happen next. What was weird is I felt my eyes moving so I wanted to open them. Every time I started seeing the colors I just tried to focus on them but eventually just lost it. I had to scratch a couple times etc.

I feel like I got half way there but honestly I don't see how I could go from that state to dreaming. I may have started to dream though, because I remember seeing a T.V. and hearing this one guy talk and then instantly my mind was like in shock that maybe I was actually dreaming and then it felt like I got pulled back into my concious, seeing the colors again.

I was just wondering did I actually start to dream and how do I stay in that state? Also how are you supposed to "get into" the dreams, like is there an easy way? After that I feel I was trying too hard for it to happen. Maybe I'm trying too early (I have only been recalling dreams for 3 days and this was my first attempt to LD)? Also I am young. I'm 16.

Also I felt those "Vibrations" of being asleep but they were not scary at all like many people seemed to be. It was like twitching and shaking a bit but not too bad...

Hopefully someone has had similar experiences / can help.

I think you were starting to dream....However, as many do, you pulled yourself back. You may have been too startled or excited that you were dreaming and that may have caused you to do this. Relaxation is a key element in a WILD...Make sure that you have control of your emotions and are relaxed at all times, and this will help. There really isn't an easy way to do it. You just wait for it to happen. Eventually you'll float right into a dream. I don't think it really matters when you attempt to LD. Neither your age, nor your ability really matter. You have to start somewhere, right?

Good job, wrotexinxcursive, and welcome to Dream Views. You'll find you'll like it here, as I have. You did almost as good as me the first time I tried it.

Those images you were seeing were probably:

      1) HI (Hypnotic Imagery) and HS (Hypnotic Sound)
      2) In fact a dream.
      3) Your own thoughts that seemed to have wandered.

It is very easy to lose concentration, you find that you are distracted by your own thoughts. If it helps try counting to 100 over and over. This has helped really well for me.
Success comes to those who are not afraid of failing.

Also, I have tried it like 3 times (trying) but last night I got into the stage of my body numbing and I wasn't trying... it's kind of frustrating because I want to keep trying so I LD but I need sleep... lol.

If you are new to lucid dreaming you shouldn't waste sleep over it IMO, no point to. Just start slow, trying to get a good sleep, working on recalling dreams. Thats what worked for me. Had my first LD my 3rd day

From your avatar you look emo. Suicide in lucid dreams does not carry over into real life, just so you know. Read up on this forum for different induction techniques as well as maybe a lucid mp3 or two.
