      from night terrors to lucidity

There's something about a first post... I am glad to be here and to have found you all. I have enjoyed lurking this forum for a few days, and reading posts and especially the tutorials. I have great hopes for learning the art of lucid dreaming, and have begun with the recommended work by LaBerge. So far I have gotten as far as journaling, and searching for dream signs. My great friend and roomate has begun experimenting with LD and we are assisting each other with discussion and things we have learned or observed. '

I am looking forward to learning much, much more, and hearing from you all!

And I suppose I should explain by way of my post topic... I have had what I have been calling Night Terrors for much of my adult life. I also hope to explore LD as a way to understand this as well as many other aspects of sleep, and the mind.

Welcome to the forum! And great job already going through the tutorials and starting a dream journal. It's nice you have a friend to learn about LDing with because you can learn from each other and help each other out. But please feel free to post any questions or experiences you may have. The community here is excellent and you're bound to receive lots of good advice and opinions.

LDing is a great way to deal with nightmares. I think there's a nightmare tutorial you may have already seen, but the key is remembering that nothing can hurt you - and it's YOUR dream so you can make it be whatever you want. I would find some common dreamsigns within these nightmares and work with those - like incorporating reality checks, or visualization yourself realizing it's a nightmare before you even fall asleep.

      Good luck with everything!
