Absolutely it's possible -- even fairly common, I think. I know that I had my first LD before I had ever heard anything about it or knew that it was possible.

Again, this is very common. Many people have their first LD triggered by a nightmare where they will themselves to wake up.

Urrrr.... I guess you must not have looked in the right places, because that's one of the more popular subjects around here. Having sexual encounters that would not be possible in real life is one of the favorite things to do in lucid dreams.
