Hey everyone,
Only yesterday did I find out about Lucid Dreaming, at first it sounded to me like paranormal things, but as i read more and more proof I got very interested in it.
So much that i immediatly started my endeavour the same evening.
I really hope to expirience a LD, especially cause my dreams are always so realistic and creative that I hope i can do many fun things when i am aware of the Dream life.
Like god in your own world =)
A question:
I believe I was entering my dream state (The WILD method) and saw bright red flashing, but my heart started beating faster and faster and faster, so much that I was afraid i would get a heart attack and so i 'pulled' back out of sleep.
I dont have a weak heart or any heart problems, but is this normal?
Here is the log I wrote about my first Lucid Dreaming practice night, it was written for my friends on my LiveJournal so Im not questioning your knowledge about LD i was just explaining for them
Last night I had my first practice of Lucid Dreaming.
From now on this will be my Dream Journal.
First of all, how did my Lucid Dreaming practice go?
Preparing for the sleeping I started by meditating, at this point i was striken by fear. The reason for this is that as a child I had many nightmares, perhaps 4 out of 7 nights a week I had a vivid realistic nightmare. This may also be the reason that I forced the rememberance of dreams out of my mind. Because for some time now I only remember pieces of dreams.
Since the way to Lucid Dreaming is that one needs to have a good dream recall, i went once again confronted with my fear of my childhood nightmares.
Since it may very well be that I end up in a Lucid Nightmare, it felt really creep recalling my nightmares and I felt really uncomfortable in the dark, like there was a 'presence' of my old nightmares.
This made my first practice session hard on me to focus and go through with it.
After some meditation to relax I went to bed and started the MILD technique for inducing Lucid Dreaming. Unfortunatly it also seemed I was suffering from insomnia this night. But my intention started to work, and I become drowsy and had my mind set on finding Dream Signs.
At the same time of trying the MILD technique i was also trying the WILD technique, which requires one to recognise when one is falling asleep, and stay aware. This is the transition period from wake life to dream life.
I believe i was succesful in recognising this period and it was about the come, i was expiriencing a small degree of dream paralysis (This is pretty scary, dream paralysis happens to us all, it is where our mind loses control over the body since else you would move according to the dreams, but when practicing these techniques one might have awareness back while still suffering from dream paralysis ,this means you lie with only your eyes to move and without control over your body)
At this point of dream paralysis and sinking away my heart started beating like crazy, it became so fast that i was afraid of a heart attack and pulled back into waking life.
After this I had a hard time going to dream life again, and had no other option but to just relax and let all thoughts flow.
This is where I ended up in my first short dream:
I was waking up (In the dream) and was trying to analysis my environment. I went to bed upstairs but now i was lying on the bench downstairs (Dream Sign one) I looked around and saw there was a black man sleeping underneath the table to the left of the bench. This made me tremble in my dream and i looked away to the other side. This is where my dream consiousness came, I started doing the math. I went to bed upstairs in my room, now im downstairs. All the doors are locked, that would mean there could be no black man in the house, or else he could also rob things here. This was ridicilous. At this point I achieved Dream Conciousness, but as soon as I got this I woke up sadly.
This was really close to Lucid dreaming>
After this I could not sleep until 5am. But i was too tired to keep awareness, i had three dreams during the night:
Dream #2:
From what I remember I was walking in corridors of osme facility, and a guy in a dog suit with a gun told me to hold, but then a girl came and pushed the door against the dog suit, and we fled into a sewer.
Now we were togheter, me and the girl, and we were swimming. But then the police came or osmething and we were running again.
At a certain point while swimming she became mad and i became awake.
This was a bad dream recall and I had no dream conciousness. Analysing this dream I could see the following dream signs:
Guy in dog suit with gun - 1
Going into a sewer - 2
Dream #3:
This was after I woke up at 10am and tried to return to get a dream, i was trying so hard to get a dream but i didnt feel tired.
Weird enough though i did fall asleep, but in this dream i was in my room, still thinking I was not managing to fall asleep. But now my neighbour was in my room and I wanted to tell him about Lucid Dreaming, since he didnt believe me i looked for my papers to proof it. But my papers were all scattered, i couldnt read the words on them, and i couldnt find the right page.
This is where I later woke up.
I only realised I had this dream when i looked at my papers and saw they were all still there in neat order.
This was a very tricky dream and as such i failed at recognizing it as a dream.
Dreamsigns in this dream I could have seen:
My neighbour walking into my room in the morning - 1
My neighbour being bald from his cancer period while it is no longer so - 2
The text on the papers being blurred and unreadable in daylight - 3
I hope this night I will be more prepared and are able to fall asleep better. I am going to do more research on possible methods to induce Lucid Dreaming...
Oh for those unfamilliar with the term Lucid Dreaming.
It is the ability to remain conscious in ones dreams. As soon as one is able to realise one is dreaming and one manages to keep dreaming one can take control over the dream world and mold it to its own ideal. And do everything one wants to do.
