When I purposely stopped Lucid Dreaming(a long story) for several years, then tried again, I got back into Lucid Dreaming the quickest with a dream journal. I particularly think a dream journal can bring about lucid dreaming. I payed attention to several aspects of having a dream journal.

1. Wright down the dream, I physically wrote down the dream on a small notebook. I did use a computer for awhile, but with a paper and pencil I was able to take naps and read about my dream through out the day without electricity(OK some batteries for reading and writing in the dark. Computer / Paper / both, what ever is accessible through out the day.

2. I reminded myself through out the day because when I had Lucid Dreams, I usually thought about it during the day. The more I thought about dreaming, the more Lucid Dreams I seemed to have. Also, when I thought about the dreams, I would think about what made the dream vivid.

Taking note of the feeling, example the speed I intended myself to run(really fast).

The quality of the acts, example: even if I ran fast I could could see clearly the objects I was passing.

Dream characteristics about the senses that might only exist in the dream, example: the faster I ran the more colorful everything became.

When I was conscious of these characteristics of the dream especially writing, reading, remembering, the experiences that are different from being awake, In the dream, I would simply realize that I am a dream after witnessing something "dream like".

After awhile of having a dream journal, in the dream I would be able to simply know how it felt to be a dream, when I found myself in a dream the very experience of exisiting in a dream got my Lucid. To this day I think about dreaming all day long, sometimes I remember I was actually in the same place in a dream I had forgotten years ago, or dream that I had forgotten simply pop into my head. Keep your journal going, remember how it felt to be in that dream, sometimes I'll get a dream that has a very different "flavor" of exisiting all together, and over time, I have a selection of favorite dreams that I can just read and I can remember how it felt to be in the situation of the dream.
