      Hey

Hi, my name is Nikolay and I just joined yesterday. I became interested in dreaming a few years ago when I had a couple of peculiar dreams, which I will mention in another thread, possibly my DJ. Yesterday, I found this site out of pure interest of reading others' dreams and enjoyed it so much as to register on it. My most noticable hobbies are cooking, acting, and writing. In fact, last year I published an article in my school newspaper about dreams. The most interesting thing that has happened to me lately is probably being an extra on Spider-Man 3, where I met all the stars. Although I can often remember my dreams after I wake up, a problem I have is actually going to sleep. It has always been hard for me to fall asleep quickly and I always end up turning every two seconds and staring at the clock or the wall. When I went to sleep yesterday I tried a WILD, or at least I believe that's what it is, and I tried to remove all my thoughts and go into a dream state. I eventually lost all my thoughts, but when it came to falling asleep they all rushed back. Does anybody here have any tips on falling asleep faster (other than drugs, of course)? Thank you for reading, and I'm sure I'll enjoy my stay here.

normally when i let my mind slip off i tend to fall asleep than being clear and focused, i would normally do that on WILD's like day-dream inaway then pull myself back as the tingly sensations take over me. But i guess thats how i do it lol!

      Hey Acto! and

Heh, well before getting to the lucid dreaming part, you need to start having better dream recall. That's actually the first step to this whole process. How else would you know if you have a lucid dream if you can't remember?! LOL

So, step 1: start recording all your dreams and keep a dream journal. By going to bed with the intent on waking up and writing down your dreams, you'll find that your mind will remember this intent and your recall will increase. We all wake up at various points during the night, but most of us just don't remember waking up. It's too brief. But with some practice you should be able to wake up just enough to remember that you're trying to write down some notes about the dream you were just in. After a few pages of dreams, you can then look back and try to find any reocurring elements in a dream. Any particular things that keep popping up in your dreams are dreamsigns. These dreamsigns are cues which you can use to become lucid.

Now, about the trouble falling asleep. There are many techniques out there that could help. I would try the tutorial section on our site. There is a 61 points of relaxation techinque that you may find helpful. It involves no drugs and is something that will keep your mind occupied while also keeping you from getting that urge to shift your body.

Another non-drug method I found quite helpful in pulling me into sleep is using the BWGenerator application to create a 4-6 hour sound file that you could put on your iPod and listen to while you lay in bed. It uses binaural beats which you can program to pull your brain's wave frequencies from waking to sleeping levels.

PS- I just saw a preview for Spiderman 3 this past weekend. There was a crew that spent a couple weeks here in town (Cleveland) shooting downtown. Not sure if any of the actors were here. We suspect it was all mostly for background shots and footage for CGI work. Oh well, we'll see. You'll have to point yourself out to us when it comes out!
