      Will it ever happen?

Is it possible to learn to LD without giving 110%?

I say that because I've been trying to LD for a long time now. In December last year I kept a dream journal for a while, and during the past few weeks picked it back up to get better dream recall. I also do the "I will realize I am dreaming" stuff before falling asleep.

The only thing is, I haven't noticed getting any closer to LDing. The only time I've ever even reality checked in a dream was back in December

So with just keeping up my dream journal and telling myself "I will realize I am dreaming and will RC when I dream" be enough to eventually LD? [/nub] Thanks for any advice

      Hello, I'm new here too

I haven't had much experience with lucid dreaming, but I feel it's important to not try and force it. If you try to force it and really need for it to happen, you'll stress out about it, which will have a negative effect on both your dreaming and waking life.

Kick back, relax, and start dreaming!

Techniquelly giving about 1% or less of your daily time should do. 110% effortwise, maybe.

It seems you have only been working on dream recall and not really trying to lucid dream. What has worked the best for me is to do reality checks. I have probably had at least 70 lucid dreams from reality checking since i joined. A good way to get excited about it would be to wear a watch that beeps every hour. Or just come up with your own ways.

It might have a negative effect on your waking life... possibly. But, i do believe by stressing it, it stresses your subconscious, which should give possitive feedback in a dream.

      Well, there's my two bits.

I think you migt have to find your own method. The methods you hear about are general methods that generally work for most people. There are always going to be exceptions and unfortunately maybe the conventional methods won't work for you. I too have tried the "I will realize I am dreaming" stuff before falling asleep. I have also tried the one with the fingers playing the piano. And it hasn't helped me either. I have however had lucid dreams but not through using any conventional methods. I do find for me at least that my lucid dreams most frequently occur at heightened emotional states. In my case the times I have most success with actually controlling a dream is when I get extremely angry with someone in a dream. Hopefully in time I won't have to get angry at people in order to LD haha.

Everyone is different, so some people need to put in more effort than others. If what you're doing isn't cutting it, why not try a few techniques? I know you want to put in the least amount of effort possible, but sometimes you just can't be lazy. If you find a technique that works for you, you can always tweak it to suit your needs better.

haha, the only reason I say that is because you won't be receiving a peaceful sleep at night!

I would suggest that rather than saying "i will realize i am dreaming" ask your self.."am i dreaming right now". Because then rather then thinking that you will do it in the future you are constantly checking your current reality. If you are always remembering for the future then you will do that in dreams. but if you are constantly aware of your reality in the present that will carry into your dreams.
