      Yet another newbie introduction...

Hey everyone! Just thought I'd introduce myself to everyone.

I'm a Canadian and have been into the dream scene for a long time. I'm alway wanting to have my dreams interpreted, and studied Freudian theory for a while.

I've had a history of nightmares: any time I've been stressed or sick, I've had bad dreams. They've eased off in my late teenage years, but I still get some really horrible ones. I'm also a victim of frequent sleep paralysis. Last year, there was a period of about four months where I would wake up at least 4 times a week at EXACTLY 3am and hallucinate that there was something above my head, with the inability to move. It doesn't have as often now, but I get some strange ones, like my cat coming at me through the wall next to the bed. For these reasons, and some others, I decided to investigate lucid dreaming.

Sometimes, I'll dream, for instance, that I'm on my back in bed, and there's something going on around me. Then I'll wake up and realise I actually am on my back. Also, I often have sounds and sensations transfer into my dreams. If the TV is on, I can almost see it even in my dreams, and the dialogue sometimes becomes part of the dream itself. I am usually in a very light dream when these things happen, though, towards the end of a nap or a restless night.

I've kept numerous dream journals over the years, but I've got a pretty steady one going at the moment in a Harry Potter notebook. I remember a lot from my dreams, especially from the nightmares, and these things tend to stick around and haunt me all day. I'd love to experience true lucid dreams, and have some control over them, because besides the bad dreams, I get some really cool ones with a lot of potential.

What else to say here? Not much else, except that I look forward to sharing and learning at this forum.

Hi there Danny, and welcome to the forum. I hope you learn a lot about dreams here and that you'll be able to stop your nightmares. If you look around the forum then you'll find that a lot has been said about how lucid dreaming can help you get rid of those. It basically comes down to using them as a sign that you're dreaming, and then confronting your nightmare by asking why something is happening to you and what you can do about it.

      Good luck.

(Wow, welcoming people seems fun )

Heh, my kinda girl. I'm a self-proclaimed HP nerd.

Anyway, welcome to the forum! Sounds like you've had some pretty interesting experiences. I've also had really weird dreams when I'm sick - I always attributed it to having a fever, or taking medications.

I think this happens to a lot of people, me included. It's a weird sensation like you can hear the sounds and the dream shapes itself around them. And then something happens suddenly, like a door slamming, and the same noise will be a product of the dream at the same exact time. Strange how it happens.

Good luck with everything and have fun!

      Welcome!!

Something strange that happened to me recently like 2 nights ago. I was in a lucid dream with Penelope Cruz and Toby Maguire. I asked them the name of the movie that they were shooting so I could look it up once I awoke to see if it was a future movie. LOL.

Anyways I went around the dreamscape and was half awake. The dream sounds that transfer into your dreams were actually transfering into the real world. I was half awake and half asleep (fully lucid) I could clearly hear the sound of a man talking from a radio or tv like source. It was cool.

Start with the Mneumonic Induced Lucid Dream, keep reading the forum, and then incorporate both methods into the Wake Back to Bed method which is linked in my signature.

Feel free to post questions regarding reality checks and eventually dream control as you start to have your lucid dreams.

      Good Luck and Stay Lucid!!
