      New here

Hello all. Just joined up. Hoping the act of registering will trigger a spontaneous LD.... Doing a reality check right now. Keyboard works, words are not running around on the screen, and I have the correct length and numbers of fingers. Yup. I'm awake.

Just been wondering if the ability to LD increases, decreases, or remains
unchanged regardless of age. As I get older (43 now) I have found that
I have more (although still very brief and largely uncontrollable) moments
of lucidity in my dreams than when I was younger.

      Any thoughts?

      Sleep tight,
      Tock

Well, i don't know if there's any correlation between amount of lucid dreaming and age, perhaps some of the older members of the forum could fill you in on this one.
Or maybe you could do a study on it, see what you come up with?
      anyhow, welcome to the board!

      Hey TickToc - and welcome!

There are many factors which effect our ability to lucid dream - both psychologically and physiologicaly. Threre seems to be some effect on the ability to become lucid involving chemicals in our brains which have to do with our function of memory.

I go into this a little bit more in this thread here. You might want to check it out as there are other opinions as well.

      Welcome, TT Man

But I am a little disappointed. I fully expected your first post to include the phrase "Repent, Harlequin!"

Ha! I've used this handle for years on various forums and you're the first who ever got the reference. Here's a toast to Harlan

I guess you haven't been posting on any literature or sci-fi forums.

      Here's a toast to Harlan[/b]

Naw.... those kind of forums are far too intellectual for me. I'm just a knucklehead with limited intelligence.
