      Prolonging LDs - Good/Bad

I have a question prolonging lucid dreams... I have read that many ppl can make their dreams last longer by spinning around in the dream or rubbing their hands together... I mean having a lucid dream last all night would be really cool but when you wake up the next morning and have to goto work... won't your mind be tired from creating/animating this dream world all night?

There is a limit on how long it will go. I doubt you could get it to go all night long even if you where really good. It seems like you wake up a lot easier while lucid so a lot of the time even when you prolong the dream might still be shorter than a normal dream.

I am not really that good at it so can't say for anyone else but it only seems to add a few minutes to the dream each time, and I have not been able to spin more than twice before it stopped working.

      Welcome to the forums!

Usually when people talk about spinning or rubbing hands in their dreams they are not talking about prolonging it lasts all night or anything like that.

Those techniques allow you to stay aware inside your dream when you realize that you are losing lucidity.

Dreams usually don't last very long, it's the number of dreams you have per night and how long you stay lucid that decides how tired you are in the morning.

However, everyone is different. Some feel like that they are drained after a long lucid experience while others feel perfectly rested.

      Welcome!

Yes, it is difficult for me to make a lucid dream last more than one REM cycle. I will usually wake or lose lucidity.

I always feel great though after an especially long or vivid one!

      WELCOME!!!!

Those methods will help you prolong your dream for a while, although it will inevitably fade sooner or later. My longest lucid dream felt like if it was 5 or 10 minutes long, though it is very hard to tell duration in dreams. After that spinning stopped working...

But that's more than I can allow...

While your dreaming part of your mind believes that the events that your dreaming about are actually taking place. Although you will never feel pysically exhausted. Because your body does not participate I have had vary active mental lucid dreams where I did feel a bit of phatigued the next day. We are not talking about the norm here. These were dreams where I have battled my own demons (& won).
Typically you will feel exuberant after having a lucid dream because it is such a riviting experiance. Just as you would if you had an awesome day.

It is hard to prolong it for a while. Expiriment and come up with something...perhaps slow down time, or take a 'super lucid' pill, or build a time machine; stuff like that!
