i have always had slightly memorable dreams, but just the slightly foggy ones, i have never become lucid before. i have good dream recall and usually remember one or two dreams every night. i am going to start a journal, but i am just new to this. i feel almost DEPRIVED of a very interesting aspect of life . recently i talked to my sister who is only three years older than me and she said she has lucid dreams almost every other month, and she almost acted as though it was strange that i my dreams have never been lucid. i just purchased a used nova dreamer and i am going to try to start conditioning myself to become lucid. any advice?

Hey, it's cool that you never had a lucid dream before. I never had one either. It really seems to be the case for most people who start off using this site. First off, good job on finding your way here. If you want a lucid dream, this is definitely the place to be! To be honest, I'm a little new here myself, but I got a couple things figured out.

To start off, you must have a strong will and commitment to having a lucid dream. You've got to want it. If you loose that inspiration, look around the forum, especially the dream journals and lucid dream journals. Don't give up. That’s the most important key to success. It may take time, but you've got to stick to it.

It's good that you're going to start a dream journal. That is the first step to lucid dreaming. As you said, you can remember one to two dreams a night. Now just be sure to diligently record as much detailed information as you can from each dream. It's important to remember what's in your dreams so you can recognize them while you asleep. One thing that I've noticed so far is that you get better dream recall on a good night's sleep. Eight or nine hours is perfect.

About the nova dreamer, I've heard of them, and they seem like they'd sure help, but I don't own one, so I can't help much there. Sorry.

Again, to level with you, I'm a little new, and I haven’t had any lucid dreams yet, so I can't give you much help on obtaining lucidity. But the first goal is to record your dreams. Try recording one weeks worth of dreams before starting any techniques to have lucid dreams.

Hey, just stick with it. Have a positive attitude, and I’m positive you'll have success in due time. Feel free to send me a private message by clicking "chzplz" above my icon, and then click "Send a Personal Message". I'd love to hear from you, if it's not too much trouble, on you progress.

Hope to hear from ya soon, and good luck!

      Great! Keep it up!

If you haven’t done so already, go to dreamjournal.net. It is the perfect site to keep your dreams in. You can make the private or viewable by all. You can also ask others to interpret your dreams to. I highly recommend this site. It also has features that'll find dream symbols, things that may help you understand you inner self. Give it a shot!

Firstly hi and welcome to DV

Yeah dream journals do help a lot with dream recall and are also a way of helping become lucid. Also do reality checks through out the day as that helps alot.

      Good luck

      You'd like some advice?

Put your mind to it, believe in yourself. The night after hearing about lucid dreaming, I had one, because I told myself I could and would do it.

Also, the reality checks can really help, especially if you tie them into a certain place. Whenever I was at camp, I would always do reality checks throughout the day. When I had a dream about camp, I thought "Oh, better do an RT" and realized I could fly.

Question everything. If a digital watch doesn't work, DON'T assume the bateries are dead. Assume it's a dream and try to fly, or write something down.

I hope these help, my fellow new dreamer :]

Hey, with enough hard work, you'll soon have this mastered. These tutorials might help you, to start with. Read over these, pick a method and move from there. If you need anything, just ask!
