Hi all,

I just recently signed up to the forum and I thought I'd introduce myself.

I've been interested in lucid dreaming for over a year now. I bought the 'Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming' book and since have had a couple of lucid dreams. However, the couple that I have had have been extremely short, with me almost waking up as soon as I realise I am dreaming. Hopefully through these boards I will learn how to make the dreams last and to have control over them.

Apart from that...I'm from Scotland and I'm currently at university studying towards my honours degree in psychology. I'm an aspiring writer and have a passion for film. I guess if you want to know more you can always check out the myspace link in my signature.

Well, I look forward to many discussions.

      James.

Hey Dude, I'm new too. Pleased to meet you. Might as well get started with this "expanding each other's knowledge" thing... I have been dreaming lucidly for three to four years now and have found a couple of very good techniques for prolonging you Lucid Dreams.

The first I would suggest has probably been suggested to you before (it's on many a Lucid Dreaming site) but incase it hasn't, here goes: as soon as you realise you're dreaming (don't wait till it starts to fade because it may not fade, it might flash you off into waking consciousness) start spinning around like you're a child trying to make him/herself dizzy. Once you're spinning, specify your intent as to where, who, what, &c. you would like after you stop. This REALLY works. The first time I did this successfully, I prolonged a dwindling dream four times so that the overall dream seemed to last at least an hour of 'real time'! And after the fourth spin I suggested to myself that I would like to meet my Spirit Guides- and I did... it was beautiful to say the least.

Another awesome technique which can have SPECTACULAR results is to upon becoming lucid sit where you are in a meditative position and close your dream eyes. Breathe deeply (as you would in waking life) and concentrate only on bringing peace, harmony and calm to your self. This allows you to gather your thoughts and awareness and may lead to a very enlightening experience. From this position I strongly recommend drawing a white light to yourself in the form of Divinity... then see what happens!

      Dae,

      Rob.

Welcome to the forum, James! Glad to have you aboard.

Sounds like you've started off right, buying EWOLD and all. It's a must-read for anyone interested in LDing.

Have you started a dream journal yet? If not, you should start immediately! And write down the LDs you've already had. Record anything and everything you experience that's dream-related. Feel free to use DV's Dream Journal if you want.

Also, the tutorials are chock full of good info on different techniques and LDing-related material.

And last but not least, make good use of the Search function on the site. You can find quick answers to some common questions. But if you can't find the info you're looking for, feel free to ask.

      Good luck and have fun.

Thanks for the kind welcome guys.

I have been keeping a dream journal on my own. Sometimes I do wake up and my dreams have faded before I can write them down, but I do keep one. I may start using the forum dream journal space though.

Thanks for the tips. The next time I manage to lucid dream I shall try the spinning technique!

      Thanks again!
