Yes and no. WILD is not the best method. Here's the thing: Everybody is different. There is no "one size fits all" technique, or a "best" technique. WILD is very hard since the thing is:
1) You can hardly do it without 6 hours of sleep before (only a very small amount of people manage to do that without waiting a loooong, looong time)
2) If you WBTB (sleep before that so you instantly enter REM), the problem is that people usually fall asleep and thus fail the WILD or go "fuck this, I just want to sleep"
That being said, once you know the trick and are more or less able to WILD successfully most of the time, yeah, it is a very good technique. DILDs (since DILD is just a "category" of attaining lucidity, it just means you become lucid within a dream, rather than WILD which just means you have a transition from the waking state to a lucid dream and never lose consciousness. DILD and WILD arn't techniques, they are just names for categories of attaining lucidity) on the other hand are way more common and once you've achieved DILDs as will, wouldn't you say that's the best technique? There is only one best technique which is willpower. If you have 100% faith in yourself, you can induce lucidity at will every night through willpower. I only know of 2-3 people who can do this though. Don't be scared about SP or anything like that btw, if it was harmful, it would've been at least notified somewhere on this website

In my opinion the easiest technique is to really work your dream journal; lots of detail, feeling, expression and all in the present tense. Crank up your awareness during the day (reality checks, whatever, just BE aware, alert) and this will translate into your dreams. With your strengthening awareness you'll begin noticing the anomolies more easily. Consistency and strong intent is the key!

See post above. WILD is difficult for one, easy for the other (though mostly difficult for people, I've listed reasons in the post above). Again, "easiest" and "best" techniques don't exist. It differs per person.
