      My dream journal is turning out to be very odd. Some days I wake up and cant remember anything until later in the day, so i write the journal later. Sometimes ill wake up and write down about 4 pages, and sometimes i wont remember anything but single words, or pictures.
      This is just over my second week with my dream journal, Is this normal?
      Is it OK to think about your dream during the day and write it down later?

      i started my dream jornal about a month ago and i still have days where i wont remember a dream. And i have the 4 page dreams too. If u are remembering dreams in the middle of the day then its a good thing, because your mind must have been trying real hard to remember that dream. means your focused keep up the dream jornal! it has done wonders for me

      I like to think of a dream journal as a pair of training wheels to practice remembering your dreams. Well, now that school has started, my dream recall has been atrocious and I'm not even going to begin talking about my dry spell. Guess now I need those training wheels :S. Anyway, yeah, it is completely normal to remember all or part of your dream. However, the more you remember the better. It sucks to forget a lucid dream!

      Yep, this happens to me all of the time. I work shifts, so my recall is always going to be variable...i find that if i do a run of late shifts, my recall picks up again, but if i then switch to earlies,down it goes.
      It used to really bother me, but not so much any more...

      and it doesn't matter when you write it down...if i remember something of a dream when i wake up for an early shift, i'll jot down a few main points, such as where i was, and who with, basic outline of the dream. Then when i come home and have more time, i can embellish it.

      It doesn't matter what you remember, whether it be a full dream or words and images...think of those single words and images as a starting point for recall.
      You can work with them by asking yourself leading questions such as 'then what happened' or 'how did i feel after that'

      It kinda snowballs from there...
