This was my second dream of the night and was really short. My dreams are usually very blurry and im not fully sure of what happens. Anyhow, i was flying through the air, i think i was launched from a cannon, and then i was like WTF, this isnt happening. Then all of a sudden things got clear and the wind was loud and i could actually feel myself flying through the air. I thought i went lucid but since i was about to smack the ground i kind of just looked at my chest(i was in the air facing upwards so my back was facing the ground) I tried to think of something quickly like flying but couldnt do it. Then i smacked the ground and died, i think i woke up then and wrote it down which was 2 minutes before my alarm clock went off. Was i lucid for a couple seconds? If i was then it felt incredible.

Yeah, it sounds like you became lucid there... Lucidity is just realising, within a dream, that you are dreaming. It sounds like, for a few seconds, you did it. The whole "going clear" thing is pretty indicative of that... yay for you!

First off, welcome to the forum, Jester

Secondly, if you knew you were dreaming at the time, yes it was a LD. If you only had control over the dream, but didn't specifically know you were dreaming, then no, it wouldn't be considered an LD.

Either way, sounds like a cool experience!

Thats why i wasnt too sure because i had no control. So i wasnt sure if i dreamt i had the awesome feeling of soaring. But OMG it was awesome and im hoping for another tonight or at least a cool dream to think about in the morning.

many a time i've had no control over a dream but been perfectly aware that i'm dreaming.

Yeah control and lucidity aren't not dependent on each other.
You can be lucid with no control, and you can have control but not be lucid.
Though everyone's goal is to be lucid and have ultimate control.

wow, thats hilarious! But that's very good for a first lucid dream. In my fist two lucids, either something really weird happened that caused me to lose lucidity or I immediatly woke up from the exitement.
I will some day legally change my name to:

"Simquatti Charles Moses Solomon Gunther Schmupak, Magical Ninja Reverend LXXIV"

      Lucid Count: 7

      No.

You do not want to say that this abortive failure of a Dream is your first Lucid Dream. Save that honor for a Dream worthy of the name.

I can tell you my First Lucid Dream. I was dreaming I was in Man in Charge of a Royal Geological Expedition, and we were camped at the top of a Mountain somewhere. I was in the tent, going over some papers, when I realized I was Dreaming. So i slid the papers aside and went outside the tent and was wonderstruck at the beautiful vistas in every direction. And then the beauty of the stones and pebbles at my feet. And then I lifted up and flew off over the Valley. Then I awoke.

Now, THAT is the kind of thing you want to remember as your First Lucid Dream. Not being farted out of cannon and not having the courage to keep in your Dream simply because you strike the ground. I have a clue for you. You can't die in a dream. If you only would have stayed in the Dream, for just another 20 seconds or so, you would have found that you had not died at all.

So go back and try again, and get a decent First Lucid Dream.

Oh, and this reminds me of a story about Stratavarius, the most famous of the Violin Makers. He was once asked how one starts to makes good violins. Well, this is what Stratavarius answered: "You make a hundred violins, but throw away the first 99". So the first 99 don't count.

So, no, this ridiculous failure does not count.

After 98 more of the same, then you might have a good First Lucid Dream.

Have you even looked around at the other newcomers to the site? Most people tell of experiences like this.

A majority of the newcomers at this site are still unsure and very attatched and accustomed to the laws of the real world where action and inaction more often than not, lead to tangible, physical consequences.

I think we can forgive those who get a bit scared that they're hurtling towards the ground after being 'farted' out of a cannon, without experiencing some kind of major epiphany.

This story sounds to me like someone who wishes to pretend like they were never a novice. If you deny your mistakes and shortcomings, you are no longer qualified to advise newcomers having lost your perspective of how it felt to be inexperienced in the art in which you attempt to instruct others.

It's possible for anyone to bark inadequacies and self-glorification masquerading as advice at someone less experienced.

      In regard to this, I'm a fan of something Samuel Smiles said;
We learn wisdom from failure much more than from success. We often discover what will do, by finding out what will not do; and probably he who never made a mistake never made a discovery.[/b]
Perhaps you should remain in the company of those you believe would be more appreciative your "profound experiences" and leave the consultation with those less experienced to those less pretentious.

      ~

Regardless, I say "Good on you spokenjester", if this experience has possibly served as a building block in an interest in lucid dreaming, keep at it.
These are the tears that I dream about...

      Yeah, amen to this.

I remember my first lucid was vague as hell, and it ended up very, very blurry with me trying to fly... the second (a WILD) was WAY more clear. But, the first one, was still a lucid, and, for what it was, it was still cool, and there's still a definite (and deserved) sense of satisfaction from having your first LD.

So, spokenjester, good job! And, it'll only get better, as long as you put the work in!
