Hello everybody im new to Lucid Dreaming. I have had 2 lucid dreams that i can ever recall having in my life. (one of them being last night) Last night i got home from college, last class being phsycology. We were talkin about the mind and sleep cycle that class period and my instructor mentioned that he has been mediatating and practicing lucid dreaming since he was 18. (hes about 65+ now). he mentioned that we should try to practice them and said if we get good you will get a lot out of the experiences.. For once i took my instuctor seriously.lol. So when i got home i looked at a bunch of tutorials and sites explaining how to start lucid dreaming. so i got a journal and layed it by my pillow and went to bed.. Amazingly i had a Lucid dream for probably a minute tops,
not really sure, but it was of me at my computer and i was typing over and over a bunch of code..(a week ago i started learning java) i was insort of a 3rd person view, but wasnt, idk..but i had no hands! isomehow then realized that i was dreaming and i tried to stop from typing and i did.. then i tried to stand up but that was when i woke up. :-\

jus thought i would say hi and tell a lil bit about myself lol..

Hi lepinat0r welcome to the BIG DV's Well If Lucid Dreaming is what you want you are sure to get it. Everyone here is so helpful and if you look around you will come across some good information for enhancing your lucid dreaming. You're already a step ahead of the game with having a couple of dreams and that is pretty cool. I wanted to ask you also when you had that Lucid Dreaming of being on your computer and you stood up and awakened at the moment did you feel any excitement prior to that? I mean did you realize that you were dreaming and gotten so excited that you stood up? If you did have a lot of excitement that may have pre-maturely ended the Lucidity, emoitions play a huge part when you are Lucid Dreaming it's good to find a way to calm yourself and stabalize them. Can 't wait to hear more about your future Lucid Dreams see ya around.

yea i first really realized i was dreaming when i was typing like 100+ words every 5 seconds and couldnt really read ne thing on the screen, then i noticed my hands were gone. that kind of startled me but i actaully said is this a dream? and it was! that kind of got me excited because i said it like 50 times before falling asleep jus to it was in my head. so yea i think after i reealized i was in the dream it did excite me, thus making me loose my lucidness or lucidity, however u say it

btw thx for ur reply ive been reading tons of stuff on this site

Hey lepinator That's awesome that you were able to get results on your first try!

But as Ne-yo was saying, when you realize that you're dreaming, just relax. I'd also advise just looking around you and even rubbing your hands together because that can help to increase your awareness of the dream. That can also help to prevent you from waking up.

So, welcome to DV! If you have any questions feel free to browse around or ask. See you around. (Oh, and that's a great avatar! Did you edit that one yourself (because it looks like another picture I've seen)?)

You rub your hands in the dream. From what I have read on the internet, it is a familiar feeling to people, so it is easily mimiced in a dream. It gets your mind going so you start to become more aware, or something. That might just apply for spinning in a circle though (another way to become more aware).

BTW, welcome to DV, I am pretty new here too and I have already found a lot of help on various subjects. Have fun!

Well, when I'm lucid, I always feel like I'm going to wake up at first, and my theory is that when I rub my hands together I am able to focus more on my dream body and prevent myself from returning back to a focus on my real body.

Remember to continue to remind yourself that you are dreaming... that's my problem
