      Hi I'm Toaster.

I live near London, and I really want to get back into lucid dreaming. I kind of stopped a bit at the end of the last school year, but remembered a lot of dreams over the summer holidays and had a couple of LDs. In total I've had about 15. I have to get up at 7:30 to go to school, and though I want to remember dreams, I just don't remember them after getting up... at least, not in the week. At the weekend (sunday, at least, since my school has saturday school), I remember dreams occasionally... please give me something to help...(not drugs or anything like that. I just want tecniques

      thanks

i have the same problem as you. i get up early and stay up late. i actually have to get up much earlier than you: 6:00 am. it sucks, and i know what your feeling.

my first week of trying to lucid dream i didn't wake up during the week at all all, until 6:00 that is. i did remember my dreams, but not right as i woke up. it took me to sometimes a half hour later before i remembered them. thats what i'm guessing your going to have to do until the weekends come around. the trick is that once you get up, keep your mind on trying to figure out what you dreamed. it usually works for me.

lately, i've been setting my alarm clock at 4:00 am. i started that on saturday and guess what? on saturday i had, for the first time, two dreams in one night. i wrote them down in my dream journal, and vividly remember them both. the next day, same thing. i had two dreams. unfotunately, i slacked off and forgot the first one because i failed to write it down in my dream journal. last night, my brother was woken up by the alarm clock and shut it off before i got up, so no dreams.

anyway those are my suggest btw, welcome to the forums

hey, well i have that smae problem

what i ahve figured out that works is to use zinc. I take abotu 60 mg. It doesn't seem to matter when i take them in the day, but it is the only way that i cna remember my dreams.

iv tried mroe than 60 mg, but it didnt seem to make a difference. whenever i take zinc, i always remember my dreams. always.

i usually remember 1 to 3 a night wiht it. Let me knwo if it works. also, some autosuggestion wehn your goign to sleep, either you saying to yourself or a cd that syas something along the lines of"i will remember my dreams"

happy dreaming, and if you try it, tell em the results

EDIT: i jsut sa the no drugs thing. well, zinc isant really a drug, its an essential vitamin that your body nees. if you don't want to take a bottled supplement, i would suggest looking up some common foo that are high in zinc.
*note*^ the above comment was not meant to be hurtful, nor insulting. It is just another of my cynnical observations of fact. If you happened to be offended by my logic, too bad.

      Hi, welcome to DV!

I know just how you feel, as i work shifts, and if i have to get up early, i find my recall suffers. I do remember my dreams much better when i work lates or have days off.
I've come up with a technique which is individual to me but might work for you. At the weekend, tell yourself that you will remember your dreams, and then write down whatever you remember the next morning. You have to have a firm intention to remember, and at first you'll have to be quite motivated to write your dreams down as you may not remember much.
Once your brain gets into the habit of remembering at the weekend, you may find that you start remembering even when you have to wake up early. Happens to me occasionally, especially if i've been able to go to bed early the night before. just out of interest, what time do you go to bed on the nights before you go to school? If you go to bed earlier than normal, you might find your recall increases.
Another thing you can try is this. When you don't have to be up early, say at weekends, set your alarm to go off approximately 3-4 hours after going to sleep. Wake up, and write down what you can remember. This technique is known as Wake Back To Bed and can be found here

as for supplements, you might try B6. I tried it for a while and it did seem to help. When my recall came up, i stopped taking it, and i've never had a problem since.

Here also is a list of different supplements that other members of DV have found helpful in aiding recall and lucid dreaming.

      The pharmacy

So, check out those, i hope it's helpful to you. if you have any more questions, feel free to PM me.

      Hey Toaster,

More sleep = longer REM cycle = longer dreams = more content to recal. Pick out a couple days in which you have absolutely nothing to do but sleep in and try going to bed early the day before.

Recall techniques: I always recommend the same thing - try waking up without an alarm. Waking up to an alarm disrupts your natural dream cycle. Sometimes it's helpful because you MIGHT catch yourself in the middle of a dream. But then, you have to shift your focus off what you were just dreaming about to turn the alarm off. Besides, dreams our precious - why would you want to interrupt them?
