      Thumbs up

      Hi there

I'm new around here (which I guess you all can tell by not having ever seen me here )

I've been into LDs pretty recently, my dream journal only dates back to October 1st. I had one LD a couple of years back, out of the blue, but at the time I didn't feel like pursuing it and trying to have more. But I did think it was the coolest feeling ever, which is why I now decided I'd give it a real try.

So I've been keeping a very tidy dream journal, and doing the reality checks and all that.

And yesterday something really strange happened. Until now I cannot tell if I had an LD or if I dreamt I had one (which, to me, comes as a very mindbogling notion )

So what happened was I was in my room and something caught my eye, I can't remember what, and I though I might be dreaming. So I looked at my hands and they seemed strange, like they had a ghostly double around them. And then I checked my watch and its hands were flying in a circle inside it, instead of pointing the time. I thought that was a pretty clear sign I was dreaming. So I thought of what I might do and the first thing I did was start touching things, cause I feared they might not feel reality-like, which they did and I was pleased.

Then I tried to change the scenery, but was not able to. I thought it was ok, I could always go out the window into the back yard. So I went to the window and tried to get out, but the glass wouldn't let me. I thought that was silly, cause if I was in a dream I could go through glass. I tried again and this time I made it.

I thought it would be neat to try to fly and so I jumped and willed myself to float. That didn't work and I fell. So I remembered reading somewhere that jumping around could help, which I then did. :yumdumdoodledum: Some of the jumps were pretty high, but I always came back down.

Afterwards I ran out of ideas and thought that it was enough for one night and I might as well go back to sleep.

Now that last part was just silly, cause if I were in my right mind there's no way I'd have done that.

Also, what bothers me about it is that the first LD I had had this very "nowness" feeling about it, I clearly remember the feeling of being aware at that moment when I was dreaming. This one I remember like any other regular dream.

Wow, I didn't mean this to be so long . LOL

So what do you guys think?

First of all to dream views To me it seems like you know at LEAST the basics of the techniques used to help and enhance lucidity, and you've had what seems like a really neat lucid dream...thats cool. Just thought id mention that.

Anyway, im thinking that was definatley a lucid dream. You were aware it was a dream, so you were lucid, and furthermore, you were able to control your environment a bit. The fact that you thought of going back to sleep isnt exactly suprising. Many weird things can happen in lucid dreams, that seem random, and even normal. My very first LD i knew i was lucid, but then was sort of "warped" into a different room in my house while i was doing an RC with my alarm clock. Now to me, this should have been a little random, and even increased my lucidity, (to help me realise this was a dream), but it all felt completley normal (as weird things usually do in dreams right?) and i quickly lost lucidity. So im guessing you WERE in fact lucid in that dream, but giving the nature of dreams, wasnt exactly "logical"....if that makes sense.

Also be sure to check out this page http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/inde...showtopic=3243 for acronym definitions, in case you arent familiar with some of the terminology around the boards here. I sure wasnt

Well. . . the lack of the "nowness" feeling might be because you went back to sleep. Had you woken up immediately it would have been more fresh in your mind. Just a thought.

Hello ppls - I'm also new to this sight and forum - this is my very first post, actually. I've been LDing for a few years now, but I've never met anyone else who also does it - I've introduced it to many ppl, though

I like the idea of this forum - now I can actually talk about it practically with other people who are interested in it.

Sancie, you know I still have problems with solid objects too sometimes - I remember some of my first LDs where I would actually feel the sensation of hurting myself trying to ram through windows and doors - lol - and sometimes my face would go partway through and get stuck... There were some scenes in the movie, "Ghost", that gave me the inspiration to overcome that - If you've seen it you'll know what I mean - I love that movie.

And with flying, I've often found it's easier to stay aloft if you start from a high altitude, like a cliff precipice or skyscraper, or even conjuring up something as simple as a trampoline helps too. Think about something to help you out and you'll usually find it shortly - ex. walk around a corner and there is the trampoline or there is the elevator to take you to the top floor, etc. I've read that some ppl also like to grow wings or change into a bird or other flying creature.

      Hi there!

Tioliah, you just got me in the mood to go watch "Ghost". It's been years since I've watched it!

Good idea with the flying, I'll try it whenever I have the chance. I particularly like the wings bit. It's probably a bit trickier than just jumping off a building, bout sounds pretty cool.
