Hi everybody...

My name is Brett I'm 20 and live in South Africa.

I stumbled upon the site and the topic while trying to find answers and info on things occult, paranormal, magical. The thought thrills me of being able to be lucid in my dreams, as my dreams are normally fantastically imaginative and wholly weird.

I remember as a child having a dream, involving a rather good looking teacher, and had to wake up for some reason. I went back to sleep with the intention of carrying on with the same dream where I left off and it worked! Yay!

Since then I don't think I could say I've had lucid dreams as such that I can remember, it's more a case of while dreaming being aware that I'm sleeping, like in my mind I can almost feel my eyes closed and my head on the pillow, and having some physical awareness of my surroundings. Having said that I don't recall being aware of any particular realism. or being able to control my bodily movement or thoughts or anything in my dreams, I just know I'm dreaming most of the time.

I've had this dream a few times (the same dream, not recurring in that it happens every night, but I've dreamt it 2 or 3 times before) where I can fly, I just have to bend over and let the flying take my waist and then I can fly (if that makes any sense).

I was wondering, I share a bed with my girlfriend, will her being there affect my lucidity in any way, for example false awakenings will she be there? Will I talk in my sleep while lucid dreaming? If we both try the dream recall thing and regular waking etc. is it possible we'll share lucid dreams?

Another topic that interested me was polyphasic sleeping, does anyone know anything about polyphasic sleeping and lucid dreaming? I read somewhere that polyphasic sleepers can sleep for 3-4 hours a day in 30 minute bouts, having mostly REM sleep. If this is possible, could I have 30 minute naps every 6 hours or whatever and lucid dream in those 30 minutes, thus having my mind awake all day long?

Any other tips on lucid dreaming for newbies would be appreciated as well!

Thanks...
