Hi all,
I've known about Dreamviews for quite a while now. I found it while googling for "lucid dreaming" after watching "Waking Life." This was about two years ago.
I love the site because it's main page is not mystically-oriented. I appreciate the fact that it does not try to force any religious or spiritual views onto the reader. I personally do not believe in the existence of souls or any sort of paranormal activity, although I am fascinated by the secrets of the unconscious and I believe that Lucid Dreaming is a great way to explore them. I see Lucid Dreaming and all that goes with it as a way to widen the doors between the unconscious and the conscious mind. Dream recall helps me bring back to Waking Life pieces of my unconscious, while Lucid Dreaming brings my conscious mind into my dream. It's simply bringing information back and forth, leading to a sort of unification of the levels of consciousness, perhaps. A way to learn about oneself and, why not, conduct some entertaining experiments with the paranormal (as I said, I have no reason to believe in it yet). I wonder sometimes how much the line between our dream and waking selves can be blurred. I don't think I can imagine half the potential of Lucid Dreaming yet. I am just a beginner, despite having had some very wonderful experiences already.
I've gone through a dry spell for about a year and a half and have recently gotten back on track with dream recall, reality checking, and attempts at WILDs. (In fact I had a WILD just a few hours ago, and when I opened my mail just now I saw that my request to join had been accepted. Nice! I'm currently conducting an experiment with other people I know, and I hope I can take a few breaks to share that here.
I've tried to read up on the tutorials, I've gotten some interesting tips here so far. I'm still struggling with some of the acronyms you use on the site. Hehe. Anyway, I think I should mostly lurk until I can suitably find my way around and I've read the more "Classic" threads here.
Oh, yeah, I am currently in Buenos Aires, studying Image and Sound Design (cinema, TV), and working as a translator (English and Spanish). I'm almost 27, I'm an INTP (for those of you who know about Myers-Briggs), I like Freud, I interpret my friends' dreams... bah, I had to include some of that context stuff.
