Hey everyone,
I thought I would introduce myself. I've been lucid dreaming since...well...since as long as I can remember. I'm actually suprised to find by reading some of the posts on this forum that some rarely or never experience it. One poster said that his friend believed they didn't even exist!
Anyway, two summers ago I really wanted to try to get into it and I began a dream journal. At one point I was remembering 4-5 dreams per night and achieving lucidity at least once a week. These lucid dreams were different than any I had had before: much more vivid with tactile experiences. Unfortunately, after only a month or so I started to become very busy with school and stopped writing in my dream journal altogether.
Fast forward to now: I'm studying abroad in Madrid, Spain and have found myself with a lot of free time on my hands. My dream recall came back to me within a few nights of writing in the journal again, but to my suprise the quality of my dreams have changed greatly. Instead of the epic fantasy worlds that I experienced last year, my dreams have become so mundane and boring. For instance, one dream I drove for what felt like hours down a country road, with nothing in the scenery or in the storyline denoting that this might be a complete fantasy world.
And therein lies a problem: Naturally I'm adept at DILD's due to the fact that, in many cases, something odd or out of place instantly triggers my awareness. I'm sorry to say that in more than 3 weeks I've only had one lucid, and that dream was very short and not very vivid. The only real difference is that I don't really mediate anymore, do you think that might have something to do with that?
Finally, I've been trying desperately with no success to WILD, before I go to bed, setting my alarm clock, or taking a nap (my host family thinks I'm crazy with how much I sleep). Usually I concentrate very hard but lose it and drift unwittingly into sleep. I feel like I came really close the other day though, which I guess is good news.
Well that's it. Nice to meet all of you and I hope to participate actively.
Jason
