      Hi everyone.
I stumbled onto this website last night after a quick search on Google. I was not aware that so many people experienced or were merelly interested in lucid dreaming. I have brought up the subject from time to time in my entourage and never ever found somebody to relate to. I have heard a lot of 'vivid' dreams stories but not lucid ones.

After spending quite some time on the forum reading stuff, I'm very happy to see that individuals are taking this thing seriously while others see it as a dick-measuring contest. I couldn't care less how many times one has done it or if he/she is chasing demons or watching plants grow outthere. I'm interested in the mechanics and nothing else.

So, if you have a theory you would like to share, keep this thread alive or pm me.

      Until next time.

      hey there. welcome to dreamviews.

you might not want to talk that harshly here. its a good community, and part of the forum topics are about "chasing demons." the mechanics are here too, however, and if that is what you're interested in then good luck to you.

you might think otherwise when you have your first lucid dream. many people call it the coolest experience of their lives.

All right, this is definitely not a good start.

      My apologies to everybody.

First of all, I do experience LD once in a while. The only point I was trying to put across is that I would like to read theories on how this is possible, what are the limits, etc. That's it.

I promess to clean up my language as well ...

      its all good.

limits dissapear once you get good at it. you should practice methods to get good at it, since the experience is well worth it.

      good luck!

Theories on how LDing is possible? Realizing you're dreaming isn't exactly a weird occurance. Becoming aware that you're dreaming is something loads of people do on a regular basis, whether they realize it's called lucid dreaming or not. Like me, for example, I've been lucid dreaming since childhood (basically realizing I'm dreaming and exerting control over the dream), but didn't learn there was an actual name for the occurance until I stumbled across the term online. I'm sure there are many many people out there who have experienced a lucid dream at some point in their lives and either didn't remember it when they woke up, or didn't think anything of it.

      Anyway, welcome to the forum.

oh countless - I've been LDing since childhood.
But I only actually found out that what I could do was called lucid dreaming since the day I joined DV.

If I have a LD and suddenly decide to visit the Vatican, is everything I see there part of my current knowledge of the Vatican or is there a good chance I might be learning something new??

Also, is LDing affecting your sleep time - recuperation from the day? I read threads where people wake themselves up in the middle of the night as part of a ritual. Is that healthy?

      Thanks

Unless you're doing something like OBEing or astral projection (which I'm not sure how much I buy into either of these phenomenon, btw, but you can read more about them in the Beyond Dreaming forum, or do a search), your dream would only include be what you already know about a given place.

You don't have to wake up in the middle of the night - but some people do it to try to either increase recall, or attempt techniques such as WBTB and WILD. It's not unhealthy to wake up in the middle of the night, but if you find yourself unable to fall back to sleep, you may need to go to bed earlier to help make up for the time lost.

Try a technique like MILD, DILD, orVILD which don't require you to wake up in the middle of the night.

      Thanks Burns.

The reason I was asking (first question) is because I once met an individual while LDing that was kinda teaching me stuff I couldn't understand and I got rid of him and eventually went back to normal dreaming. I'm having trouble understanding why this guy would be a fabrication of my own imagination. Anyway, I'll read more stuff on this website, maybe it will help me some more.

      Till next time.
