      Reoccuring nightmare

Hello;Im new at this but I had to seek help for a reoccuring nightmare that has sent me into anxiety attacks both day and night now. The original dream started about a month or so ago.I dont know how to start but to expalin that a despicable terrifying like animal happened upon me one day while I was walking down the street and everyone ran but the animal corned me up against a chainlink fence on a lot somewhere and pressed up against me until I was curled up in a aball on the ground against the fence. The animal layed next to me breathing in a undescribable tone and just layed around me I felt this immenent impending horror awaiting me that the animalwas known for no matter what ;DEATH. Then I woke up. About a month later the animal appeared in a different scenerio although this time I didnt see it but heard stomping around in my childhood home upstairs bedroom. I couldn hear horrorifying confusion like someone being mutilated during their last moments of life. I just dont know if I can accurately describe the terror of these sounds .When I try to think in my mind what this all means the only thing in my mind that relieves my questions is that the animal signifies imment absolute death and it is unescapable , no bartering, negotiating no nothing...its absolute. That is terrifying and they(dreams) wont stop. Please help me!

      Re: Reoccuring nightmare

Hello, Erwin. First off, I'd like to say that we're glad that you joined us and I hope that we can help you out with these nightmares. I've experienced the terror you've felt in a couple of the dreams I've had in my lifetime and I can't imagine having to relive it on a regular basis.

This animal may or may not mean something. I tend to lean more towards the idea that you've probably encountered animals and for some reason something's been triggered so that this one now appears malificent. For me, the only time I have nightmares now is after a bad (ie, horrifying) movie I shouldn't have watched. Do you have any idea what might have triggered this?

Now, how many times have you seen this creature? That first time that you saw it, do you believe it was explicitly attacking you? Were there any other emotions you felt besides terror? Did the animal feel like Death, or was the general idea of death present in the dream?

It's hard to get rid of such potent emotions, but you have to think rationally. I'd recommend formulating a plan of action to be enacted as soon as you see this animal. Remind yourself of it before you go to sleep and when you see this animal, do it. Don't hesitate or you could psyche yourself out. One thing you could do is the next time you see it ask what it wants or why it's there. Try to get it to speak. You could grab the gun or sword or knife that's sitting next to you (as it will be in the dream) and use it, or you can have a friend come rescue you and protect you. You can yell out "Freeze!" or "Stop!" and once everything stops moving, look at your surroundings and decide what to do. Write it down if that helps but have some plan of action so you won't be so anxious about it.

THere's also a nightmare tutorial that might be helpful, but I hope that some of these suggestions might work. Let us know if you need anything else.

      Nightmares

Hello, thank you for your reply its good to be able to journal my thoughts and have someone understand. To try and reply to some of your questions for me about my nightmares with this animal let me start by saying i dont believe the beast is any sublimenal fear of any animal. I do think that the animal was the general idea of a death be it physical or a symbol of a death such as in a relationship or other form of entity.Does that make sense cause I dont know if im using the right words or phrases here to get my point across yet. Its kind of like when you get that feeling something just happened or is happening and later on down the road when you experiance something your mind reminds you of that moment when you had an errie feeling and it now all comes together. For me the anaimal represents something like that. That at this moment and time something just set in or occured or has developed...its seeeded itself...its just been rooted.Do you know what I am trying to expalin? This is why it is so terrifying because it just overwhelms me to think that an immenent catasrophy is on its way and you cant stop it. I hope this somehow brings my feeelings to surface a little more. Thank you for listening.

Hey Erwin. Not to be picky, but I just thought I'd mention that it'd be easier to reas what you're writing if you could use a couple more paragraphs. I read kind of fast so my eyes tend to wander. Thanks

Anyway, so this is more of a feeling of deja vu or something akin to it? In all honesty, I'd really try talking to this animal. Find out as much as you can before making any decisions. And relax.

I personally believe that there is always the possibility of something catastrophic happening in the future. I don't know what or when, or who it will affect, but there is always that possibility. But one can't go through their life in anticipation of impending doom. On the contrary, there is always the possibility that great and wonderful things may be right around the corner. The future is as bright as we hope it to be and it's the hope of that brightness that keeps us living.

Nobody know what the future will bring for everyone. All we can do is take one day at a time.

(Oy... can you tell I'm a writer?... and that was just a rhetorical question.) Oh, and if you want to send me a message you're more than welcome to if you don't want to continue the conversation here.

How are things going for you in real life? I would guess that you have some sort serious anxiety in real life? This sounds to me like a manifestation of your anxiety and stress.

Anxiety tends to build on itself as well. Stress in the day can manifest itself in your dreams, and that in turn can cause even more stress to be created during the day.

Have things been going any better?

      My view

I tend to believe it is an anxiety based symbol. This common animal could be from a real fear of a real animal in your past. I would be sorry for you if this animal was you dreamguide, as the dreamguide should be helpful, not scary. A dreamguide is just a reoccurring personality in your dreams that your subconscious sees as necessary for motivation. I had a negative dreamguide, that was deceptive in the beginning to seem like a positive dreamguide. I don't doubt a negative dreamguide that really doesn't hurt you could actually be a positive dreamguide in disguise. And the next time you see the animal do like what has been said, try to talk with them. First thing to do is ask for a name. A name leads directly to awareness of the soul. All things want to be recognized in some manner. I'm not saying this will not invoke a negative response though. Just realize when you awaken that a spirit that attacks you in a dream is more scared of you than you of them.

I tend to think that your analysis is closer to the truth than i want to accept. i realize its been almost a year since my post and ive beeen living with the terror of repeated anxiety attacks since then with some revelations in life unfortunately as well that have put this nightmare in perspective-got hurt on job and have been on disablity going on a year now-found out wife was having series of affairs-things just suckfor a while but are leveling off.
