Thumbs up

Hi everyone,
This is my first post but I have been interested in this site for a few weeks now. I have read bundles of information on lucid dreaming, recall, etc. and have learned very much. I am the worst at dream recall, so I took your advice and got a dream journal. I have had it and have been using it for about a week now, which isn't very long but have had 0 results. I can't recall even the tiniest bit of information and when I wake I draw an absolute blank. Do you recommend me to continue trying or should I try a new method?

I've honestly heard that a long strenuous exercise routine or rough sex, which ever works the muscles more and creates more sweat loosens up the body and softens the mind allowing the said person to enter a deeper sleep and have more fulfilling dreams.

That and you should probably take b12 vitamins, and don't make the mistake of just sitting them on your dresser. You actually have to take them once every few days.

Hope my post helps.

I'm sure my advice would actually work though, that and the stuff I bought today is supposed to induce heavy dreaming.

So we'll see

This thread is very colorful.. but you can try setting your alarm clock for about five hours or six hours of sleep time, and when you wake, write down your dream.. write down emotions and sounds and feelings you had.. in time, it will all come to you

Welcome to the forum, Hypnosis! I take it you and Melange know each other?

Anyway, yoy may have already read it, but here's the Dream Recall tutorial. And DeadDollKitty's advice about waking up after 5-6 hrs of sleep was good, too. You can also try drinking A LOT of water before bed to help you wake up naturally in the middle of the night when you may remember a snippet of a dream.

See you around the forum! Good luck and have fun.

Yes, Melange and I have been dating for over 4 1/2 years! We both kind of discovered this site together since we are very interested in these types of things. So last night, I decided to not be so lazy and set my alarm at a time that I normally wouldn't wake up. I was so utterly tired that I fell right back to sleep. When I woke up in the morning to my alarm I drew yet another blank and couldn't remember anything. I went into the bathroom to put in my contacts and BAM! It all hit me and I started remembering peices of my dream. As I continued to get ready in the morning peices of my dream kept popping in my head so I made sure to write it all down in my DJ. I managed to get about 14-15 sentences written down which isn't too much but it's definetely a start!!!!

Continuing with the journal is a definite. As a journal, I've been using the notepad feature in my phone. I was just like you in the sense that my DR sucked. Before I came to this site I would get a few dreams a month. I've been keeping a dream journal for over a month now and I already log two or three dreams in my journal per night. Patience and persistence is the key. Wait- read over that again. Patience and persistence. My phone has a character limit, so I'm very brief in my logs. Typically who, what, where, emotions, and anything special I can fit in after that. Emotions and what you're feeling are very importnat, I would say. Also, as melange said- B vitamins (B6 in particular). I found some at the local grocery. I take (I think) 100 mg a night (or when I remember to). Or if you don't like the idea of taking a supplement, eat a banana or two. It's the same thing, pretty much, except the banana tastes better. Also, make sure you form a system of reality checks. Everytime you touch a doorknob, see if you can poke a finger through your palm. Set your watch to chime every hour and upon hearing it see if you can breathe while holding your nose shut (Also hearing this chime while in your sleep can aid in becoming aware in your dreams, thus becoming lucid). Personally, I am always on my cell phone, so I wrote in the banner "Reality Check." Seems to work for me. Don't try to make sure you're awake- try to prove to yourself that your dreaming. "I think I'll teleport to Indonesia- oh.. I'm awake." Hope this helped.

I ahd that exact problem
the thing that worked for me was auto suggestion
i gave up on the alarm as i found the sound comepltely destroyed my recall
first of all Id suggest a dim night light, so you dont have to turn on a birght light cus tht coould kill recall too, and second, if your already comfortoable with meditiating this shuld work pretty well, meditate for a while and then suggest to yourself that you will wake up after every dream period and remeember your dreams.
works for me, i rember about 3/4 a nyt now.
Hope that helps.

im sorta new at the whole lucid thing and i used to have the same problem - i would wake up and know that i had a dream lastnight but all i could remember was blackness. what i found was that if you think too hard about it you will never get it - just let your mind wander with your eyes closed in the morning and it will most likely come to you - it starts out with like a seed where you remember one little emotion or snippit and then it blosems (SP) into most of the dream (this is when you start writing)

good luck

I've been having the same problem... thinks it's getting better now though. B12 is a vitamin that naturally improves your dream recall. I don't want to take it because I just prefer the idea of naturally remembering loads of dreams.
