Hi. I am new here and I'm currently learning to be a Lucid Dreamer. It sounds like so much fun. But sadly, I have a question that I can't really answer. Sorry if it's been repeated over and over again (a n00b questin, so to speak), but for some reason, I can't actually feel my emotions. There was this one dream I had of me slipping off a steep slope, and instead of me feeling any pain, or anything at all in fact, everything went black, but there were sounds of me falling, then when the sound stopped, I was lying on the bottom. Not knowing what i'm feeling tends to be a bit of a shame in some ways. Are there any ways to fix this problem?

      cheers,
      molly

you mean emotions as in fear, happiness...that sort of thing? You talked about not being able to feel pain, that's not an emotion, (well, maybe I don't know wholly) but a physical sensation. If you're just starting out I wouldn't worry too much about that, my dreams were 90% surreal and de tatched before I came here and started to keep a dream journal. For some reason though just a few days after keeping one I had a major dream where I was doing everything from playing musical instruments, to getting sprayed with seawater, falling down a ramp and actually feeling carpet burns. I haven't even become lucid yet, so I don't know how awesome things will be once I reach that point.

The one thing I would recommend that has helped me tons is to start a dream journal today. It's wierd but they really really help, in everything from recall to vividness.

Welcome to Dreamviews! It's a fine establishment with a lot of experienced people, there'll probably be quite a few guys posting after me that will probably be able to help a lot more. I hope I could assist in some way.

Oops. Silly me. I forgot pain isn't an emotion. Gee, I can be so stupid these days. :yumdumdoodledum:

Thanks for the advice. I'm keeping a dream journal online and i'm going to attempt dream recall soon. I acually might have to go to bed soon. It's 1:00 in the morning

      cheers,
      molly

EDIT: Oh yeah. I have another question. There are a few times a month when i'm in bed and I'm trying to relax, then all of a sudden, I feel some sort of impact hit on my body, like i've fell and hit the ground, or bounced on a trampoline and hit it on my stomach or whatever side i'm relaxing on. There was one time when I felt it so hard I nearly fell out of bed. It's really annoying but I want to know what's causing the problem .I don't know if it's got do do with sleeping or not, but it always happens when i'm in bed. Is there any way I can fix this?

Yeah I get that impact stuff that knocks you off the bed, I think you just need to follow techniques for LDing and practice and you get used to stuff and can start to control it. Just keep experimenting for a bit. And yeah keep a dream journal, write in it every morning.

Hey Molly! Glad you could make it!

That "impact" you feel, does it feel like your falling? Or a quick jolt? Its called a Hypnic Jerk (also known as a Hypnagogic Jerk). They are commonly felt in the late stages of falling asleep and early stages of waking up, at both points where your ussually too asleep to remember them. But occasionally you'll consciously feel and remember them.

Thanks a bunch. I hope to master LDing when I remember my dreams. I put my journal online too. Here's the link: www.stiksterdreams.blogspot.com I hope to have my first Lucid Dream when I manage to practice it well enough. I can't wait 'till I finally achieve it.
