Wink

Hi all.

I've been looking through the forums for the past couple of days and checking out the info. Hopefully I'll have the acronyms and slang down soon.

I'm 28 years old (as of 2 days ago) and I couldn't tell you how many lucid dreams I've had in my life. LD is something I've done since I was about 4-5 years old. It started when I was having nightmares, and my dad told me that if I was having a scary dream, to just call on him and that he'd come beat up the monsters. I have pretty great dream control as well as recall.

If I'm "practicing", I will usually have several LD a week. I don't keep a dream journal because I have 2 kids under 2 years old, so there's really no time to write this stuff down, although I'd love to.

My main issue with LD right now is that it's begun to annoy me to do it, because it happens so often. I have been having them so much that I feel exhausted upon waking, because I feel like I've been up all night long. The other thing, is that when I'm having a LD, the first thing I seem to do is grab the first DC I can get my hands on and have sex with them.

I'm not like this IRL--like, I'm not some kind of perv or anything. In my waking life, I tell myself that I *will not* have sex during my next LD, but once I'm in a LD state, I say to myself, "I *know* I said I didn't want to do this the next time I LD... but... I-don't-care! I want to now!"

As for what I've done (other than sex, obviously) while LD:

-Flying
-diving in and out of water like a dolphin, only zooming wayy up into the air and wayy below the water and breathing underwater
-messing with light switches
-attempting to find out if I'm doing any astral.. projection is it? You know, seeing if I am going out of body by doing checks around the bedroom. So far it's only proven to me that I'm not.
-creating people (although not generally successfully)
-creating objects (again, not generally successfully)
-testing the area around me (once I took a rough rock and told myself that if I put it in my mouth it would be smooth, but it wasn't)
-hypnotizing myself and attempting to use a mantra to get rid of a phobia that I have (hasn't worked).

I'm sure there's lots more, but I won't go into everything (although feel free to ask me.) I guess I'm just getting really bored with LD and I'm looking for something new and fun to try that will pique my interest again.

A few months ago I learned about the thing (I can't remember what you guys call it) where you're drifting off and you kind of LD... so I experimented with it. The few times it's happened in the last couple months (I think it's happened to me 3 times) I'm in that state and it's just blackness. And that's it. So it kind of makes me feel like, "What's the point in doing this? I can't even dream experiment..."

Okay since this is a novel I'll shut up now. I'd love any input on any of this. Thanks again! This is a terrific resource!!

Thanks.

I do RC's a lot, mostly out of habit now. When I realized that there was a "term" for what I was doing and that I could make it happen as often as I wanted to, I studied up about it a lot. I check what I'm reading a lot of times. But then, when I'm not "practicing", I also a lot of the time just end up LD all of the sudden. (Like you said--"Hey.. I'm dreaming.")

I do enjoy LD when there's something interesting to do. Although, I have to say... when I was in the dream where I put the rock in my mouth, I thought to myself... "I have the potential to do anything in my wildest imagination. And I'm sticking rocks in my mouth. I'm effing boring...."

Sometimes I think I *would* like to take some sleeping pills, but alas... I'm breastfeeding so I can't take them, and even if I weren't, I have to be able to wake up in case one of my kiddo's needs me in the night. Contrary to being a skilled LD'er, I'm a very light sleeper. (Fortunately for the kids' sakes.)

Hi Ivey! I'm really impressed with your ability and also the fact that you figured so much out on your own. I can remember just a few LD's from before I joined DV, so I knew they existed, but I never would have thought of trying to make it happen.

I used to have that problem too....I felt like I couldn't accomplish anything important because of it. Everytime I was lucid, it was the first thing I thought of. I had non-lucid sex dreams a lot too. But strangely I seem to have gotten rid of them, I don't know if it was all the complaining I did, or what, but they have decreased dramatically. (Nothing else changed in my life.) Now I kind of miss them. I wish complaining would work to make me have lucids as well as it did for that.

Anyway, welcome, thanks for sharing your intersting experiences and I hope to hear more.

P.S. I love your sig...I always loved that movie.

Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcome.

exo-- Thanks for letting me know that I'm not a hopeless weirdo or something. I'm sure you've all run into the issue that a lot of people IRL don't understand you when you talk about LD, so it's nice to have people around to tell you what's "normal" with LD and what isn't.

Shyne--that's what I'm here for! To find out fun new things to do and attempt them in my LD's so that I can become re-invigorated with LD's again. Good luck to you, also!

Moonbeam--thanks so much for identifying with my situation. I guess this means that there's still hope for me?! I'm wondering if my current body-image (having recently given birth) is what's making me feel the need to "feel sexy". It happened a lot during my pregnancy, also. I'll have to think about that.... Thank you for the sig line comment. I thought it was appropriate to LD. I'm a huge fan of that version of the movie... not so much the newer one, though.

I hope to become a regular here soon. (I'm something of a message board addict when I find one that I truly click with&#33

I didn't like the new one either, even tho it is more true to the book. Depp was scary in that.

Sorry for the color. I usually type in green on php boards, but this one is a little different, and it does look funny...

Anyway, Moonbeam, I think Depp was really scary in that version, too. Very strange! You know, I had heard like 2 years before that one came out that they were making a new version of it but that Marilyn Manson was supposed to play him. I wonder if he was originally and then backed out or something. Now THAT would have been scary!

Shyne... I wish I were cool enough to say that it was APC, but I honestly don't even know any of their music. I think my husband might like them, though. I honestly don't listen to music very much... like hardly ever. I listen to NPR (National Public Radio). I'm very boring like that.

Exo--was that in regards to something that I said, or to Shyne? I wasn't sure.

Shyne--yes, it took me a minute to figure out who you meant, but I pay *just* enough attention when my husband starts talking to be able to figure it out.
