      Was this lucid dreaming?

I just stumbles upon this site and was thinking I have experiened some things like this before. What has happened to me several times is in a reccuring nightmare, I relize I am in my reccuring nightmare and wake myself up cause, well, its a nighmare. So is this kinda what you guys are talking about?

Yeah it is. When you discover that it is a dream that is considered lucid. Recurring nightmares are a great dream sign, cause they will let you know it is a dream with great ease. I would suggest next time you don't wake yourself up, but try flying away, or spinning thinking of a different place you wish you were...

      WELCOME AND GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

      Hey ajc1088!!
You woke yourself up because it was nightmare. I used to do that when I was younger. It was as if my concious stepped in out of neccesity. I, at the time was not even aware of Lucid dreaming. Now that you are aware being concious in your dreams is possible......think of all the possibilities.

ORrrrrrrrrrrrrrr try and confront whatever is happening in your nightmare and slay the monster, thats what all the psychologists say, and we all know they're right, so go do that and save your mental health!

That's what I always used to say too(I am a psych major if that matters) but after a recent experienced I realized that sometimes you are to afraid to confront your aggresor. Whenever you can I would recommend you do, but if you cannot then there is no shame in running...
