Hi,

I decided to finally find out more about this lucid dreaming stuff! I am, from what I gather here, a natural lucid dreamer. I have been ever since I was a little girl. I really had no idea that this wasn't something everyone could do until I had some really deep conversations with my husband a while ago. He still has trouble believing me and he tells me he's jealous.

I think it started when I would have nightmares as a child, maybe 4 or so, I'm not sure. I could easily wake myself up from the dream. I guess from that I started being able to control my dreams and play in my dreams. I can't remember a time that I didn't know I was dreaming when I was.

Honestly, I've gotten to the point where dreaming is something I like to be aware of and just watch and see what's going to happen, sort of like watching a movie, but if something is happening that I don't like or something is frightening to me, I'll change it. I have no idea how I do this, just that I do and I always have.

I'm also a very light sleeper. Always have been and I wonder if that might have something to do with this? I have a lot of questions and I would love to talk to other people like me. I know now that I'm not the only one and it's very comforting! I'm not some freak!!

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

Your far from a freak! In fact, you'll find your part of a group that is more along the lines of special, as your a natural at something many people think is new agish, or don't even know about.

Being a natural things'll come to you much easier here, and you should fit right in

      Happy Dreaming!

About being a light sleeper: Yes, I think it has a LOT to do with LDing and dreaming in general. It is my belief that the lighter a sleeper someone is, the more likely they are to have better natural recall and chances of spontaneous lucidity. I myself am a very deep sleeper and hqave to really owrk to get recall and lucidity.

Yeah. So, I think you're right on the mark, and being a light sleeper is relevant.

My husband is also a very deep sleeper. He would love to have a LD, but he hasn't been able to yet. He's just beginning the process though. I wish I could help him (and others) but I have no idea how I do what I do. That's something I want to try to figure out.

There's lots of information on this site, and a book called 'Exploring the world of lucid dreaming' which goes into great detail about getting started in lucid dreaming. It could probably your huisband alot, but all the information can be found on this site anyway. Awesome to hear your a natural at it, good luck to your husband.

You sound like dreaming is very natural for you, you are very lucky, I could remember my dreams well but not always know I'm dreaming like you said you could!

Welcome again, have fun, and I hope you can teach us a thing or two!

Well, it's all to do with recall techniques. I would advise that he tires mnemonically training himself to wake up slowly after a dream. Also, drink a lot of water before bed, this can help you sleep lightly. Also, and this is something I am experimenting with, but using brainwave entrainment to make the brain sleep more lightly during REM periods. Though for this, you need an iPod or mp3 player, and good inner ear earphones.
