I started trying to have a ld for like four days. I started a dream journal two days ago. Well i decided to take a nap. i went to bed for two hours woke up, and i remembered almost everything of one of my dreams. i wrote it down, it took 22 minutes to write. its long. so i think im increasing my recall of my dreams. Any comments???

Yeah Dream Journals are cool alright. They not only help your recall but also help you recognize dream signs. Theres a section Here if you want to post your dreams and show other members.

Yea I started a dream journal 3 days ago and ive remembered at least 2 dreams each night. Sometimes i can only recall fragments of dreams but I find that if I write even those fragments down sometimes I will remember more. Kinda neat.

I have a question about recalling dreams. For each REM period, do you only have one dream or can it be multiple different dreams in one REM period? And after four days for me I have 8 dreams recorded and know more that I didn't record. Pretty cool.

I've noticed I have virtually no recall after my "night" sleeping, but when I take naps on the couch... Whoo boy, I can remember a lot! More than one dream, and in great detail as well.

So, I think you are the same way. I'm really starting to think polyphasic sleep is a good idea, although I would much rather learn to remember my dreams from normal sleep. Oh well.

Good job on the recall; I'm glad you're having so much success.

Would dream recall be the same on a normal nights sleep as opposed to a night where you concentrate on trying to remember dreams after you develop decent recall? The past 2 nights I haven't really been concentrating on remembering my dreams because of school and haven't remembered any. Over the weekend I remembered a lot but I also put a lot of concentration on trying to.

Also should I be consistent with trying to remember dreams in order to be really good with recall?

I don't think its that hard to remember dreams on a school night. I practice MILD to help me remember dreams and I find it works really well. Too well in fact I often have 4 dreams a night with MILD and that takes ages to write down, espescially if you find your dream quite boring. I would definitely recommend MILD because it doesn't take much effort and doesn't affect you're sleeping pattern. Oh also making a bar chart of how many dreams you have per night is an encouragement because you can see how much your recall is improving by. Umm.. setting an alarm for your REM periods help recall, 4.5 or 6 or 7.5 hours after you go to sleep is the best times, but I wouldn't worry if you can't be bothered; some people find it easier to go to sleep than others. Hope that was a help and sorry for the looooong post.
