hi there, im amazed that this skill can be honed and practiced. I thought it was something people were just born with. so of course, im trying it out, but i have some questions.

1) what is a DC - my guess would be a dream character...

2) does drinking lots of water before sleep help attain lucid dreams.

3) with reality checks what should i do ( right now i just looka round, say reality check, and say something like yes im in reality.

4)** EDIT ** Why would you do a WILD instead of just having a LD in regular sleep? whats the difference?

1) Yes - Dream Character.

2) Never saw anything here about that - but the bladder issues would make it hard to stay asleep for long periods! (Depending on your definition of "lots," drinking WAY too much water can actually be dangerous and/or fatal.)

3) RCs can be as complex or simple as you wish. Do some searches and see what others, (preferably those who are achieving steady success,) are doing. They do seem to have more to do with a conscious realization than habit.

4) The Search function is your friend! There is a LOT of GREAT information here.

Hello Dry!

Yes. Dream character.

Some members have used the effect of drinking water to induce having to go to the bathroom. When they feel the effects in a dream they use it as a dream sign.
I can't say if it works because I have personally not tried it. I would imagine it would.

When it comes to reality checks it is all about keeping it real. By that I mean, don't just go through the motions. Make every attempt to be aware of your surroundings.

Talk to ya later.

Yup. These just about summed it up, I suppose.

When you do a reality check, make sure you are actually CHECKING. Don't just say 'Yeah yeah, I'm in reality' out of habit. Your habits follow you.

To answer your newly edited 4th question, you'd do a WILD because you would go into the dream lucid, instead of a DILD with the possibility you may not become lucid at all. If that makes sense. Pesonally I an still honing my WILD skills.

WILDs go straight into lucidity where as going lucid half way through a dream like a e.g. DILD, you don't have as much control on when in the dream you will go lucid.
