Smile

      Hiya,

I've read a bit about lucid dreaming and immediately the potential struck a chord with me about 2 months ago. The dream journal definetely helps, I've been writing in it for a month. Ive had maybe 4 Lucid D's, none longer than about 20 seconds (recognizable by floating and flying and opening locked doors exc.) but there are 2 things that seem to hold me back the most. It seems when I focus on lucid dreaming during the day with RC's I dream that I'm taking a class on lucid dreaming and such, or I have a lucid dream within a dream and wake to think im awake but am really still asleep. This doesn't happen every night so its not really a consistent dreamsign, but should I just focus on doing more RC's and examining my environment?

Also I'm wondering if someone could guide me to a REMdreamer topic (or NovaDreamer) topic(If there is one).

Help is greatly appreciated. glad to have found this site.

      Hey, welcome to Dreamviews!

Make sure you keep doing RC's, along with your journal. You don't have to do a rediculously high amount, I think some monk from way back figured out you need to do like 20 a day to be successful, so shoot for that.

Seems like you've been having some false awakenings. Those tend to pop up once you start lucid dreaming. You can use them to help you with your lucid dreaming by doing a reality check every time you wake up. Hopefully you'll start catching your FA's and turn them into lucid dreams!

There's some other techniques to induce LD's that might be easier for you - be sure to check out the Tutorials section.

And here's a link to a NovaDreamer thread. It might not be exactly what you're looking for, but it should help none the less.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Welcome! Yeah FAs can be a pain, but remember, you can eventually recognize them and have a successful LD!

If you have a lot of FAs, perhaps they could be a dreamsign for you in themself? Every time you wake up, maybe try doing an RC?

BTW, you don't sound like a noob to me. A n00b is a uber l33t haxxor tat typez liek this, and never makes any real attempts to learn LDing. Plus, as a bonus, you've already had LDs!

I'd welcome you to the site but I'm new too, haha.

Anyway, yeah False Awakenings plagued me too. When I first started I got them all the time. I even had it so bad to where I'd get an FA, open my dream journal, log a dream, then go back to bed. Only to wake up in the morning to notice I didn't log any dream at all!

This may seem like a plague but it's actually a blessing. All you have to do is a reality check every time you wake up. I just clasp my nose and inhale in, if I can breathe then I instantly become lucid. I had a total of like five lucid dreams in a short period doing this and it was amazing. Then I stopped having false awakenings and I sort of went into a lucid drought, but my norml dreams were amazing so I didn't mind too much.

So yeah, do the RC when you wake up and you'll instantly become lucid. Keep yourself calm and you'll have a really fun time.
