Last night I had what I believe was my second lucid dream (my first one that I did not wake up from right away) Anyways, I randomly realized I was dreaming when I was running up the stairs in my house to check if someone was breaking into my bedroom. I did two reality checks and definitely knew I was dreaming. Ok, these are my questions:
1. Is it actually possible to taste food in an ld? (I ate a slice of frozen cake, and I could have sworn it tasted real&#33
2. Is it normal for the details of a lucid dream to be fuzzy when you wake up? I always thought that an ld would be so vivid, that I would be able to remember it perfectly.
3. Can you influence the way people act in your dreams?

1) Yes you can, some times it can taste better!
2) It depends on how vivid your dream is. Sometimes you can amazingly realistic lucids and other times they can be fuzzy and horrible.
3) Yes they can in both lucid and non lucid.

1. Any sense can occur in a dream, the only reason people usually just notice sight and sound is because most of the time those are the only senses we're paying attention to, and except in unusually vivid dreams, it's rare for there to be much detail to the things we're not paying attention to. Since we can choose what we pay attention to in lucid dreams, tasting food in them is fairly easy.

2. Although lucid dreams tend to be more vivid, they aren't always that way. However, no matter how vivid your dreams are, the memories of them can still be fuzzy when you awaken, simply because dreams have a natural tendancy to fade. The best way to fix this is to work on dream recall through the use of a dream journal. If you write down your dreams when you wake up, they are recorded into your memory better, and in the process of writing them down, you tend to remember more of the details and events of your dreams, which otherwise would have been forgotten forever.

3. Having control over dream characters is definately possible, if you're lucid enough. Although it varies from person to person, if you are lucid enough to recognize and believe that dream characters are created by your mind, and thus should be under your control, you can usually get them to do whatever you ask of them. If you're talking about more direct control than just giving them orders, although it would be much harder, there's no reason I see why it wouldn't be possible, with enough dream control.

I'll just add something about the taste. I once had a non-lucid dream where I ate some fried chicken or something and it was the most horrible tasting stuff ever. The next day at school I still could taste it although it was more of the way you think about a food and can taste it without actually having any. I can still kinda remember just how it tasted so yes you can taste in a dream, although that may be the only time I remember eating or tasting in a dream. I don't recall ever smelling in a dream except for this twisted dream I had about the holocaust. I only remember taste and smell if it is very vivid and leaves a shocking impression.
