Lo people... just joined this forum since I wanted to at least share my vivid dreams, and also to improve how many lucid dreams I get. For me its a rare occurrence, but I have experienced them, though in most of the cases, they were lucid nightmares.

Best example was years ago when I was staying at a relative's house (and had to sleep with my little sister due to a shortage of beds). Basically, it started off as a normal day of school, with celebrities scheduled to come visit (first thing I noticed that was off). However, as the celebrities arrive, a disc comes out of nowhere and decaptitates them before coming after pupils and teachers. We all make a run for it and I run into the boarding house and talk to my friends about it, seeing if they know anything more than I did. Eventually, everything sort of skips to the lunchbreak, obviously a couple of days after the first incidents. Pupils disappearing, or being found decapitated. Then this group of kids decide to try and confront whatever was trying to kill us all. They run into the woods next to the boarding house, and a while later, screams are heard from the woods. I am watching with a load of others on the playfield overlooking the woods, when suddenly one kid runs out of the woods. Following closely behind him is the disc, which decapitates him and then turns towards me. I just manage to duck in time before flies over me and hits the wall behind. The disc then folds up neatly after the impact (instead of shattering or digging into the wall). So I take a look at it closely, fiddle around with to see how it works. Then an unnatural scream comes from the woods, and the disc unfolds and flies from my hands and goes into the woods. At this point, I am really freaked out, so I run for it and I hide in a nettle bush (why I have no idea).

At this point I wake up since my little sister was crying and and wanted some juice. After obtaining the needed juice in a semi-comatose state, I fall back asleep once I felt comfortable enough to do so. Then to my disbelief, I returned straight back into the dream, right in the nettle bushes where I was hiding. That point I knew I was dreaming, and despite willing myself to wake up, it failed. Instead, I got myself out of the nettles and decided to take on the attacker. Now the dream had taken on a different atmosphere. Everything was silent, nobody was there. I was alone within the grounds of my school. Everybody had been massacred. The sky was dark red, and it was pretty surreal and macabre. That was when I saw the attacker. It was me, except a deranged, evil me, glowing eyes and completely soaked in blood, and of course, holding the disc. I run to him to attack, though as I ran, he threw the disc. I catch it, though it cuts into my hand, but now that I had the disc, I snap it in half. I then fight with the evil me, eventually killing him with one of the shards, though I get injured myself. Once I had defeated him, I collapsed... only to wake up in the morning.

Not a pleasant dream, but I achieved a degree of lucidity in it. There were a few others, but this is the one I remember clearly.

Anyways, more about myself. I'm a student at university in England, studying Computer Science (Computer Games Tech.). I have a rather creative mind, I'm very good at coming up with ideas for things, however, I get a lot of frustration when trying to express my ideas, since I'm not great at drawing or writing (trying to do via 3D Modelling... ). I have written some stuff before, inspired by a dream I had, though ever since then, I haven't been able to write anything better. I've always had lots of vivid dreams, though never quite to the point of lucidity (except for a few occasions). Recently, I have been having some incredibly vivid dreams again (all with a recurring theme though), so I joined these forums in order to explore them further and also attain some control over my dreams so I can at least enjoy them more (I love to sleep...).

HEY! I was just getting to you! Sit down and be patient. I'm sick and slow today.

*ahem*

Welcome to Dreamviews, bluefinger.
That's an odd name by the way, got a story behind it?

That was an entertaining LD you had, finding out that the attacking thing was you. I've had lucid dreams where I confronted other versions of myself and I instantly hate them. Well, usually. I had one where I made out with myself in a lucid dream. That was quite the experience. Anyway....

This site is packed full of info. You'll find almost anything here that you need to help you get lucid again. The >>TUTORIALS<< section is a gold mine of techniques to use to attain lucidity. I find it also helps alot to interact online here. Sometimes just the simple act of conversing about lucid dreaming with someone is enough to bring a LD later that night.

Get involved here and get to know us. We're all (well, most of us) willing to help in any way we can.
Hope to see you about.
Good luck with your dreaming.

*sits down and whistles to himself* Sorry, I just sometimes feel the need to 'act'.

Firstly... the name? Oh, its just my usual net alias... had it for years. Basically got the idea for it because I used to doodle chronically all over my hands (avoided me having to ruin my work due to boredom) when I was back in boarding school.

Secondly, I actually didn't realise it for awhile that that dream was a lucid dream, only when I read up about LDs did I realise that I had them before. Making out with yourself in a lucid dream? That must have been interesting...

Thanks for the tips, I've already posted a dream up on the dream interpretation forum, and I've already started to look around and post.

I havn't read this book yet, i still need to buy it, but i've heard some good things about it so i'd say you should definately go and buy it, lucid dreaming will get even more intersting when you go in depth about it, i have no doubt that i still have much to learn!

bluefinger, checked out some of those renders. cool. you have a nice feel for color.

might I suggest Blender, and excellent high quality app for 3D art. Free. all platforms.

<-- that's what I made my little microbe with.

Sorry mate, I have 3DS Max 8... tried Blender, but its just so hard to get your head around the interface. At least with 3DS Max 8, I've got help from my course (even though 3DS Max 8 has a tendency to hate you and your work ), plus I'm already more used to it than I ever could with Blender. And thanks

You're microbe does look quite cool...

Yes, Blender has a . . . "different" interface. If you're learning an app in school, then stick with it. If you're thinking of going with hollywood style effects, do consider taking maya courses. In the US, at least, most major studios don't use anything else, except a few lightwave shops.

But, for me, the hobbyist, "free" and "powerful" has a special attraction all of its own.

Aye... 3DS Max is more for games development here, but apart from that, I have tried Maya. Well, the only reason I haven't got it is price... and none of my mates or uni have it... Hell, I know I can get Vista for absolutely nothing... all through the uni! Being a student rocks...

Yes, the price. Being in a university, I am sure there are ways to reduce that.

By the way:
The other day upon the stair,
I saw a man who wasn't there
he wasn't there again today,
I think he's from the CIA.
