Wonder if you could help me..

Hey, Im new here. I accidently found this website while looking up meditation. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you could give me useful tips on meditation, maybe how it worked out for you personally. I have tried it before, but I tend to start thinking about my day/week.

If you could help me, it'll be greatly appreciated.

      Thank you
      Matt

While meditating I find it most effective to picture your self in the sky, and as each one of your thoughts arise simply let them float of on a cloud. This technique can also be found in Stephen LaBerge's book Exploring the world of lucid dreaming. Oh, and also, make sure it is quiet.

      Hope that helps.

      WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!!

There are many techniques for meditation and such, you just have to find the one that works the best for you...

      Thank you =)

I have read on a few websites. I try to concentrate on my breathing, which I do, but Im not sure what is supposed to happen next. I found all the links around this forum for LD, they all give great detailed examples and such on what to do. If you could give me any links for meditation that would be great. =)X
      Thanks

unless you're starting a career as postwhore and want to beat lowercase... then you'd need all the extra posts you can afford.

Hey welcome to the forums Matt.

I was wondering, for what purpose are you learning meditation for?

Hope you'll try out LD sometime too.

I know where you're at. I've spent a lot of time looking up various meditation techniques, and I've practiced them all for at least 3 seconds each so I'm kind of an expert.

I like to keep things as simple as possible. I prefer not to do any special breathing or visualization or anything like that. (Not saying they don't work, just not for me) I just turn out the lights and close my eyes. Just watch and wait, let your random thoughts come and go until your mind is completely clear and stay that way for as long as possible. Don't try to force it or anything, it takes a lot of practice and patience. Kinda like lucid dreaming.

In answer to Squall's question - I've always been interested in it for awhile now, having real close oriental friends, Ive just spoken to them about their family beliefs n'all. In a way i want to calm myself down a bit and just rest in a way that meditation apprantly does for you, if that makes sense?

Oh yeah. I have read quite a bit on this forum about LD. I also thought it sounded really interesting. I tried last night. It turned out really weird. I slightly woke up during the night and my body was numbish, and I had this weird tingly feeling going through me. My eyes felt really weird, they started jumping quite a bit. But once i felt that I woke up. I managed to recall a dream to and write it down.

Also thanks Uriel for your post. I will try what you said.

Hrm...meditation. Well i know that the user Lucius can give you tons of info (look him up).

But i think that you should do whatever makes you the MOST comfortable...laying down or sitting up. be sure to keep a straight spine, though.

I personally sit cross legged, with a candle in front of me, and focus on the hypnogic (spellin?) imagery...until i sometimes go into a deep transe or 'trip'.

...but perhaps you could try focusing on your Chakras, especially your 3rd eye.

It looks like a lot of meditation guides are simply guides to LD, but you

enter LD with slightly different attitude. That's why you get different

      results...

LC has no troubles making the choice, for him, its simple! how else do you think he got to be #1 postwhore?

...i always meditate in water...but thats me...i find it tends to help me focus more on my inner thoughts and less on my outer body...but really, its like LC said (i think), whatever is most comfortable for you
