The book that Tomdub listed is probably the most respected and read book about lucid dreaming, so that's the one you should get. It's not expensive either... |

I get them sometimes when i am sleeping. It happened more when i was little. Sometimes when i get the frizzy feeling, i get sudden feeling of being throw down on the ground . It's so real, but i wake to see i am bed. It happened alot when i was little. In my culture, some people said it was a demon haunting you . Can you image a little kid growing up with the idea that a demon was haunting him ? Anyways, i reading a book on astral travel that talked about numbness before traveling. I was thinking Lucid dreaming is like Astral Travel. Is it? Anybody has any idea about the relations between lucid and astral? |

This is a very normal experience. Sounds to me as though you are experiencing vibrations that one often feels when entering Sleep Paralysis. It often happens when you are trying to WILD |

Hey, well i agree with Gwendolyn that this is SP, as for it almost hurting sometimes, this may not be physical pain but you may feel scared and your brain projects this feeling of pain, once you feel more confident about the situation i'm sure it will pass, good luck! |

Could it be a Hypnic jerk? |

Yes, that's almost certainly sleep paralysis you're experiencing. It's totally harmless, and if it occurs while you're going to sleep (instead of when you're waking up) it's possible to use this to directly begin a lucid dream, if you stay calm and don't try to fight it. |
|
Thanks for the info, i try to relax more when it happens. I wish i knew more about it when i was little . I would have alot of lucid dreams then. oh while. |

Actually, it's been proven by Stephen LaBerge that one minute of dreaming is roughly the same as one minute of waking life. However, dreaming is much like a movie, where you might be doing something in the day light, then it gets dark, you start doing something else on another scene for a little while, and then it becomes daylight again... it feels as if an entire day has passed, even though you really only spent about 15 minutes on the dream. Also, intricate dreams usually have things happening in a very chaotic way and very quickly, so that adds to the impression that more time has passed than it actually has. |
