      Dream Recall Help

I'm 15 years old and I started trying to learn dream recall 4 days ago. For all 4 days, I haven't remembered 1 single thing from any of my dreams. Every night I tell myself I'm going to remember my dreams, I take a tablet with 3 mg melatonin, 10 mg B6, and 25 mg L-Theanine. I don't know if that's enough of melatonin or B6. Last night, i also had a piece of dark chocolate. I have garlic that i haven't tried yet. I usually go to sleep at 12:00AM and set my alarm for 90 min intervals starting at 3:00AM. When i wake up, i don't really remember to keep my eyes closed or to not move, but i usually remember within 5 seconds of waking up. I also have a dream journal that's been empty for 4 days.
Is what I'm doing not enough? Or is 4 days too early to think it's not working?
And I'd also like to know if I'm taking enough melatonin and B6, and if 5 seconds is too long to start trying to remember my dream when i wake up.

I'm not sure how much i'll be able to help because i naturally have fairly good dream recall, but what I do is set my clock about 5-6 hours after I go to sleep. This is where the dreams i remember normally happen. It takes a bit of work to find the times you normally dream at, but try waking up at different times untilll you can figure it out. Also whenever you wake up during the night keep telling yourself to wake up after your dreams and remember them untill you fall asleep. As you do this you've got to believe you will have dreams. Don't worry, if you keep practicing recall techniques you will start having dreams. Most importantly, when you do start having dreams remember to record them in your journal. It can help recall also if you start reading them before bed.

I'm not sure about the pills and stuff, but normally I just lay still untill the dream comes to me. I wouldn't worry just as long as you don't move around too much (for example you can swat at an alarm clock without worrying too much), but try to stay in the same basic position. Once you have a piece of a dream try asking yourself (for example) what happened next? why was i there? this helps to remember the rest of the dream.

Remember from where you came, and stay true to your ideals. There is no place for those who have lost their souls.

Hi and welcome to the forum takeo

You seem to be on the right track with the dream journal, just remember to write down anything from the dreams, events, colours, characters, emotions, anything at all. But you need to give it time with the results, how ever it shouldn't take too long to get good recall, just keep at it.

With the B6, I think 50mg, is the best amount to take. I'm not too familiar with this sort of stuff because I haven't used any vitamins before with dreaming.

For me, on several occasions, I have either remembered my dreams when something random happens in the day that reminds me of it. OR, I have laid in bed for sometimes more than 5 minutes trying to remember and I focus on the feelings that I had when I woke up... Dunno if that might help...
Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world? -- Morpheus

Thanks for your help. I finally remembered one of my dreams and wrote down everything i could remember. My dream was pretty long and weird. When i talked to dream characters, they usually said what i expected them to say, or what i already knew.

Rather than setting at 90 minute intervals try setting it for about 5am. This should be about the time best for you to wake and remember dreams
