      Some questions about WILDs

Ok, i'm new here and i just had a few questions about WILDs.

      1. Do you have to use the WBTB method for a WILD to work? Or can you do it when you go to sleep for the first time?

      2. When you are closing your eyes and telling yourself, "I will lucid dream. I will move from waking to lucidity," and start concentrating on your breathing, do you say that once or do you say it over and over again?

      3. How long would it take on average for you to start seeing color streaks and HI from when you close your eyes.

      Thanks in advance guys!

PS: The tutorial i'm referring to is at this url http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ead.php?t=1886

      well, here goes:

      1. Its different for each person. i can almost gaurentee you will not get WILD on your first try... it takes lots and lots of practice and finding what works for you. me personally, i wake up to WILD and dont get out of bed at all, dont even turn on the lights. thats the only way i can get it to work without waking myself up enough. but when you first go to sleep at night, no, you probably cant WILD, because you arent falling asleep directly into an REM.

      2. I dont use this method, and when i tried to i didnt say it outloud, and i didnt say it over and over again but enough times to convince myself.

      3. i usually dont see color streaks at all, but experience intense vibrations and noises... usually takes about 20-40 minutes for me, but like i said, its different for everyone. dont expect to see HI, some peopel dont get it at all.

IN CONCLUSION, WILD is all about finding what works for you, personally. and when you find it, it will be worth the effort! i gaurentee it

its recommended that you use wbtb when you wild, and for very good reasons. For one your upcoming rem period is closer so you will get into the dream faster.

i dont say anything at all. I just wait patiently

depends how well i did the wbtb. If i did a perfect wbtb with my wild i would start seeing HI in like 3 min, and the vibrations in like 5-10 min. , but like darth dalles said, everyone wilds differently so it could be in more/less time, or you might not get HI at all

      hope it helps ya

Ok, i have another 2 questions.

      1. How much moving will obscure the WILD? I'm one of those people who needs to change position every few minutes because it starts to get uncomfortable.

      2. Is there any sign other than the hypnogogic senses to indicate you are progressing? Cause i feel really dumb just sitting there and nothing is really happening. It feels like when i'm normally trying to fall asleep but i have to control my thoughts so they don't wander, and i don't know if i'm getting anywhere.

Ok, thanks in advance again guys!

PS: If this post is any indicator, last night failed

well sorry that you failed but i succeeded my wild last night

      1. i dont think that moving will ruin the wild at all. i moved a ton last night cause i couldnt get comfortable. Too much moving though, will put off how fast the vibrations come. Try and keep still, but if you have to move and you are sitting there miserable trying not to, that will hurt the wild alot worse than just getting it over with.

      2. somtimes there is, somtimes there isnt. last night for me, there wasnt. Just find a comfortable position and relax. That is the key. You will be dreaming before you know it

Ok, thanks, it's just because i'm also one of those people who have trouble falling asleep quickly (bone tired or not). Oh, why do the fates have to be so cruel to me?

When i try a WILD, every once in a while, i might see really faint colorings on the black of my sight, but i don't know if they are really HI because it kinda feels like i am making them happen to make myself feel better. o.O I don't know how faint or vivid HI is meant to be at first so could someone please enlighten me. And also, when you start seeing streaks, are they supposed to be on and off, or continuous?

      Again, thanks in advance!

Those are HIs, for me they are usually blue and have sort of a tunneling feeling. As for trouble falling asleep and getting bored, maybe you could try to get some help falling asleep.

Sleeping pills will knock you out faster and keep you asleep so that you don't loose your lucid. I don't recommend doing it very often or else you may become dependant, but once a week probably wouldn't hurt.

I'm not speaking from experience, I've never tried to WILD, nor used sleeping pills so if someone more experienced tells you otherwise then listen to them.

Ok, thanks for the heads up. I'm probably not gonna take pills though (don't wanna be a druggie at 13 ). Although, you hit it right on the head, i am having A TON of trouble falling asleep probably because it is the summer and i sleep in, but i also just came upon this lucid dreaming thing, so i am anxious and go to sleep by 9 >.<;; I'll post about on how to make myself tired on the sleep forum or whatever, i guess.

personally I find it easiest to do during the day when I have nothing to do. That way, I'm not so tired that I'll fall asleep to quickly, but I have enough to time to just lie there and get relaxed. It also helps sometimes to have some sound in the background; like other people watching tv in another room. It gives you something to focus on and if it works out, you can still hear it in the dream; at least for a little while.

I have a few questions of my own.

Is it necessary to WILD while lying on your back, or can you be in any position?

Does WILD work better when you're really tired, or is it better to go to bed when not particularly sleepy?

Why is WILD better than other techniques?

You can be in any position really, just make sure it's comfortable. And i dunno about the tired thing, but i would want to be tired before attempting to do a WILD. It is usually better because if you can do it, then you could really lucid dream on will, not rely on being lucky in a dream and realizing you are in a dream (there are other techniques in which you can lucid dream on will though).

you are not required to sleep on your back to WILD, however you might want to try it once or twice, along with any other sleeping posisition, so you can find the right one for you

its kinda tricky. You want your mind to be very awake, but your body very sleepy. The way i accomplish this is by doing a wbtb ( that way my body will still be sleepy) and go on the computer onto dreamviews for a few min. ( to wake up my mind a little bit more).

In my opinion WILDs are better because they are more vivid and come with more lucidity, and most of the time its no dream recall required! (unless you have a freakishly long LD, or lose lucidity, or start dream chaining) They also have clearer thought processing so you dont make stupid mistakes. The biggest one for me though is that it actully feels like you are there, in the moment. I mean DILDs are great and all, but dont you ever have those DILDs where you wake up and it seems almost like a memory instead of somthing you just expierenced? WILDs dont have that

      theres my 2 cents

Oh man...It's been almost 2 years since I last tried LDing, and tonight, I had an interesting experience. I didn't get a LD tonight, but it was exhilirating nonetheless! I had stayed up all night the night before, and then went to a carwash that day, so I came home and passed out at around 5 PM that afternoon! I woke up a few hours ago at around 2, and was still kind of sleepy and I started thinking about LDing...something I hadn't done in a long time. So, I figured I'd give a WILD a shot, something I had never gotten to work properly.

I got closer tonight than I EVER had before.

I was laying very still on my back, and didn't think anything was going to happen, but I did the staircase method where I tap my finger and imagine myself walking down a series of steps. I only started at 50 (instead of 100), and when I got to about 30, I started feeling tingling, and I figured it was just because I had been laying there for so long. So, I kept going, and with every number it got more intense. When I finally got to the last stair, my entire body was vibrating and my heart was beating and I tried to walk through the threshold into an LD, but I couldn't get out of an awakened state! Does anyone know what I could do next time I decide to try a WILD? Should I focus on something, or what?

      Thanks
When I dream, I am free.

      Never to be taken lightly.
