Smile Does natural help a lot?

Hello, I'm new here and this is my first post so hello to everyone. Sorry about the shady thread title, I didn't really know how to put it. What I mean is, does having a natural ability of it help a lot when learning more in depth compared to starting from scratch.

I believe that I've done a lot of Lucid dreaming already without realising what it was. The main thing I've been able to do is start flying in any dream i've had (which I love and find really cool). It was only earlier on today that I found it is something many people can do and can be learnt.

The main question i'm asking is, does being able to do it naturally help to learn it easier/quicker than if you're starting from scratch or are other factors involved.

I guess so, but there's not just one way to do it. There's other techniques and different types of LDs, you'd probably be starting from scratch attempting any of them since they're all separate techniques. Or maybe Im nuts

I think Flea is pretty much right. People differ, some will find lucid dreaming easier than others, to take the obvious example I don't think you're more likely to be good at WILD as a result of finding your own way to lucidity, and we could be completely wrong :-).

I'd caution gently against getting too caught up trying different techniques of achieving lucidity. None of them guarantee lucidity, none of them work without some effort, and people posting "tech"s warning they may cause constant lucidity are getting carried away or attention seekers. If you're already having dreams where you know you're dreaming, you can pay more attention to ways to have more fun in them and make them last longer.

Look forward to hearing more about your experiences. Are you gonna try the lucid task of the month? I think the one about talking to a pet (pj says it can be any animal really) is easier; walking through fire wouldn't be too hard on its own but first you have to make a fire big enough to walk through and get it to stay burning. I think my failure was to try to imagine fire coming out of thin air without imagining any fuel - I managed to singe some grass but that was it.

If you have known it but not known it was lucidity until now then i'd say you definately have an advantage, its like language, teach a young child english and they will pick it up fairly easily over the years, but when your older its incredibly hard to learn another language for some. So yeah, having a natural ability should help in some ways.
