      Talking Hi, new here :P

      Heya. I just registered because I've recently had an increasing interest in lucid dreams, ESPECIALLY the WILD technique. I often perform reality checks to increase my chances of having a lucid dream, but of the few lucid dreams I had I was only semi-concious and they happened on accident. As far as my progress on the WILD technique, I believe I'm making excellent progress. So far I've got to the stage where you feel vibrations (feels like a weed whacker inside you O_O) and your eyes go crazy, if I recall right this is the transitional stage. For me this is exciting, and the ONLY thing has stopped me from going beyond this stage is fear. I'm sure everyone feels this though, it's just a fear of the unknown. I'm not much of a spiritual person or anything, but one of the reasons lucid dreaming interests me (other than it's the closest thing to a holodeck I'll ever have ) is that it's probably the closest thing to death I'll ever experience without, ahem, actually dying

      Well now I got that little introduction out of the way, I want to hear from some people how much potential to have a lucid dream they think I have, based on these facts:

      I'm very young, I find it very easy to enter the stage where you become paralyzed and feel vibrations before I go to bed, I don't quite get enough sleep so falling asleep isn't a problem, I have pretty poor dream recall and almost never have dreams, I'm very confident of my ability to have a WILD and have been pursuing it despite my fears.

      Another thing I think is interesting is that perhaps those Hypnic Jerk things are really you just accidentally falling into a wild and becoming startled by the sensations, causing you to wake up. I've had these before, mostly auditory ones, I don't even expect them and they scare the life out of me They usually sound like a balloon popping, or a bizarre electrical type sound O_o

      It'll be nice to talk about this with some people that have actually experienced lucid dreams... I don't find many people who have, and few know what a lucid dream is.

      EDIT Oh, and one more thing, what stops most people from having a WILD dream? :/

      hey welcome, what stops most people is getting through the sp, sleep paralization, many people get scared and exit it

      Hmm. I'm far too determined to give up forever, but I usually find a point where I call it a night. Fortunately I've already had past experience with sleep paralysis, I woke up and I coouldn't get out of bed. Fortunately for me there weren't any hallucinations.

      Welcome to the forum Kyzand, actually what stops most people with the WILDs is the fact that its very hard to do, not SP.

      Trust me many people have given up on lucid dreaming because they only attempted WILDing for a few weeks/months and never got a lucid. That made them lose patience and they found something new to do ect. You can try it if you want but I'd recommend you use another technique such as MILD with WBTB as they are easier. Then once you've had a few lucid dreams and experienced the greatness of them, you can try to WILD.

      Meh, maybe I'm just a bit too ambitous

      Another thing I forgot to mention... When in the SP stage it seems difficult to breathe, is this normal?

      Yep completely, does it feel like you're ribs are being pushed down and there's alot of pressure on the chest?

      Well it feels like my lungs don't have much strength, I can't breathe fully, just kind of heave them up a bit.

      Another question, is it normal for heart rate to increase during sleep paralysis? My heart went crazy last night, so I was just wondering.

      EDIT: Now that I think about it I can sometimes feel myself going cold too O_o

      Yeah thats normal, the heart rate can increase even if you know you are completely safe.

      The biggest problem for me is even seeing anything which is probably because i can't stay still/focused for long enough. It gets boring or uncomfortable, and the basis is to relax your body, right? -_-

      From what I've heard the WBTB technique greatly helps with lucid dreams, but I've never tried that. I just give it a few tries at night before I go to sleep, I don't really see how the WBTB technique will help, I have no problem relaxing, especially when I'm already tired.

      Anyway, I sometimes wonder if I'm being too careful, but it does make me feel better when I know it's normal. Thanks neavo

      Every time I try I end up going further than I did before because I've already gotten used to the same sensations, If I keep my eyes closed longer I'll probably start hearing weird sounds... In fact, just last night I had some of that hypnogogic imagery, it resembled a pattern of some sort, it kind of looked like a bunch of pentagons filling my vision and forming a spiral or something... It was really hard to concentrate, I've been told I'm a little bit of a hypochondriac so if my heart rate increases like that and I don't know why it makes me nervous, meh >.>

      I've yet to experience the stage when you completely lose contact with the outside world, it'll probably take a few tries before I get used to it, but there's no way I'm giving up. Is this a gradual thing as a part of the transitional stage or is it just sudden?

      EDIT: Oh, and I've been able to get into SP faster and faster, the fastest it ever happened was when I was pretty tired, it only took 2-3 minutes or so! I know that might sound weird, but it sure felt like that.

      EDIT: Another question, are you really dreaming while you're in SP? If I wake up with SP and see something scary it would be nice to control the vision, make laserbeams shoot out of my eyes and make it asplode. (OK, maybe just make it dissapear ) From what I've been observing from other's dream experiences is that when you're talking to DC's, you're really only talking to yourself, and sometimes they will say things you would have said, you just have to kind of think about it. So perhaps if you reach into your pocket and REALLY believe that you're gonna pull a dollar out of it, and you expect to feel it and see it, it might work. If you believe it like you would believe it in real life, you'll probably be able to do anything And until I started thinking deeply about it, I didn't realise I had a semi-lucid dream before just recently. I was following someone, I don't really remember who or what they looked like, and they went through the tiny TV (About as big as a pumpkin ) in my bedroom. I wanted to follow the person, and I suddenly started becoming lucid. No doubt I thought this was pretty weird and became aware. I doubted my ability to go through it when I pressed my head up against it, but I was determined and I started to do it! This made me feel pretty good that I could go through a TV, it felt kind of like pressing your head against a bicycle pump, inching further and further in, but not that hard. I don't really remember anything that came after that, but a nice experience none the less

      How long do you usually wait after sleeping for 3-6 hours to try to WILD? I've heard from 15 minutes to 5 hours. How long is a WBTB wait? Does anyone have a definite answer? And is there any proof way to have a rc in your lucid dream, if in fact you are in one? And can you "feel" the difference between closing your reality eyes and your dream eyes?

      Alright, Like I said, I think you're getting started on the right foot. What I'd like to suggest is that you change to strategy to WBTB combined with WILD. It sounds to me like you're trying to WILD directly from the full waking state.

      That's fine for relaxation and to help get your mind and intentions focused but, a WILD when you first go to bed is much more difficult and fleeting than one perform after you awaken from having been asleep for maybe 5-6 hours. Around 5 1/4 hours seems to be fruitful for me but, you'll need to experiment to find the time that works best for you.

      You just have poor recall. That should be high on your to-do list. Improve your recall by keeping a dream journal.

      I'm very confident of my ability to have a WILD and have been pursuing it despite my fears.
      Yet, that's exactly the attitude that's going to help you succeed. Keep that attitude but alter your approach a little bit and you'll be LDing in no time.

      Giving up after a few failures and trying to WILD when they first go to bed, instead of after having slept for some hours.
